In politics that is called flip flopping.

Look, I have done gun safety. But to be honest, brandishing saves lives. Police brandish before shooting to let you know they are ready to shoot.
You brandish and they back down and you don't have to have blood on your hands. Even a legit shoot can haunt you if you are not a schizo. I have friends that went to the desert who are messed up from killing really bad guys. I haven't taken a life, but it messes with you for sure.

Of course if you pull a gun you are ready to use it, but you don't have to. I do not like how gun safety courses teach you to only pull your gun and fire, never just point.

Do you honestly think that JM knew any of that we he got out of his vehicle? I also feel for the sheriff's Dept here because they all knew Joe and his family. It's just a tragic situation all around.

Of course not. No one in the thread has defended JM's actions. Point me to the post if I am wrong.

First, I think JMc acted stupidly. It got him killed

However, after learning this is the 2nd reported incident at this location by Gasser, I'm curious if anyone else thinks this guy baits people into effing with him? Then races into JP where he suddenly 'defends' himself?

Convenient that he made it just out of Orleans, when both of his victims happen to catch up with him?

Your position assumes Gasser was attempting to defend himself before being provoked by McKnight, which may or may not be the case.

Brah can you read??? I've been saying all day that I believe Gasser did something to provoke JM and piss him off and send him in enough of a rage that made him follow Gasser and exit his vehicle and approach Gassers.

I've said numerous times that Gasser more than likely started this road rage by provoking JM. I don't think Gasser is some sort of angle.

They both fricked up

Damn dude were you accosted in the past that lead to feeling the need to keep your weapon in your lap? Or is it the Boy Scout motto of always being prepared/better safe than sorry? I lived and grew up in the hood you keep you're gun on your lap for 26 years and never felt that need? I guess when your in it you don't realize the danger. Been living in Terrytown for 11 years now and it's night and day from New Orleans.

Agreed. Brandishing your gun should imply you are ready to use deadly force, not that you necessarily will use deadly force. Drawing a weapon signifies intent to use force if the situation escalates such that it is necessary and justified.

A SWAT team brandishing weaponry isn't an implication that force will be used, just that it is likely to be justifiable if it were to be used.

I'm not sure if you understand. I said I have placed my gun on my lap while while through certain neighborhoods. I don't ride around with my gun on my lap.

I've lived in Nola for 15 years, I've been all over the city. Of course I'm going to keep my guard up. People that don't are the ones that become statistics

I understand. Was just wondering if anything in the past lead you to feeling that afraid. It's not a criticism nor do I blame you for feeling that way. People have different life experiences.

Just curious, but where and when are you driving where you have the gun in your lap? MLK at 3am?

I see skinny hipster chicks cruising on their bikes in 7th Ward and St. Roch at night by themselves, and I don't think they have guns.

Again, I'm not judging. There's nothing wrong with being prepared for the worst. Being safe is important. NOLA isn't all that safe. I just hope you don't feel on edge all the time, for the sake of your health.

Nothing personally to me but like I said I've lived in Nola for 15 years. I'm very aware of my surroundings. I'm not going to let my guard down and my head stays on a swivel, my wife and kids need me. I refuse to let someone catch me off guard and end my life.

Because skinny jean hipster chicks on $80 bikes don't have as much to lose as I do.

That's basically what I was trying to get at? Figured something happened to him or maybe someone he knows. Probably the shite we see on TV every day. Never any good news. I must admit that video of the guy trying to kill that Tulane student and it jamming is fricking haunting and some scary shite. I don't think I have the heart anymore to intervene in situations like that. I'd follow in my car and be on the phone with 911.

If you have something to lose why would you go around provoking people to get in a response and start and conflict?

That's what this Gasser guy you're defending is apparently doing.

To me it seems he wants to find a reason kill someone. I know people like him (and most likely you) in real life. You justify situations like this because you relate to them. The desire to find a reason to kill your fellow man smh... it's scary that you feel this isn't the last resort but ine of your first.

You're the types that have people wanting to take guns from me!

The recent one in Baton Rouge was shocking as well. That teen went to help a woman shot on the street and then got ran over twice and shot twice for trying to help.

Sad. There are monsters out there, that's for sure. A normal human doesn't do shite like that. Sadly most of the worst ones have been in the system and made worse in jail. Then come out worse than before.

I've learned to walk tall and nobody really fricks with you. Don't stare people down but look them in the eye. I've been on foot at night multiple times in east Nola and all throughout the 7th and 9th
