"Jeff. Parish Sheriff's Office just sent out a news release that Ronald Gasser's prior arrest was for an alleged road rage incident ... (1/2)"
(2/2) that ended at the same intersection where Joe McKnight was killed Thursday afternoon."

Had I been Gasser, I would brandish then shoot if he made an attempt to reach or didn't flee. If I brandish and he follows me, then I am fleeing to the nearest police station while on the phone with 9/11.
Who's to say that isn't what he did? Maybe he did brandish the weapon and warn McKnight and McKnight came at him anyway. Maybe the weapon just made McKnight more angry.

Years later we drove past it and told my 8 year daughter that's where we first lived. She went "Y'all use to live in public housing?"
Interesting

"As we have previously reported, the case against Gasser was dismissed, but he was the accused aggressor in that incident."

How was he boxed in though? Was this mentioned? If McKnight was in the right lane and the infiniti was in the left lane then he wasn't boxed in.

Yeah. I thought I heard Norman say it but it was actually the reporter reporting that he said it.
Yeah thanks for the link. I'm not trying to be a dick about it either, I just could not recall anything in the presser that said that.

well if that DID happen then more power to him. Just most unarmed people do tend to turn away from firearms.

Was trying to decide if I should weigh in on this citing a personal experience with a "stand your ground" vehicle situation. Here goes...
I was involved in a situation in the FQ about 10 years ago where [in broad daylight] I drove across Canal onto Bourbon...had to slam on my brakes to avoid speedbumping a lineman sized baw who fell off the curb in front of me when he was physically thrown oout of a strip club...
Long story short - instead of thanking me for my quick braking reflexes - He started threatening me and hitting my windshjustield and drivers side window. The combination of being unable to maneuver due to vehichles ahead of me and the sound of the rings he was wearing striking glass led me to to roll down my window and tell him to back off before any damage/injury occurred. He decided to reach in and grab me. First time- had nowhere to go so I bit him. Second time - The vehicle in front of me advanced one car length... so I angled my Boa into the flesh above his wrist on the arm inside my car he had me by the neck with. I drove forward about 20 feet at 10mph...pretty much fileted his forearm.
No charges (the fact I rolled my window down not even an issue).
You are allowed to respond with force in your vehicle a d plenty of legal leeway for doing so.
FWIW - I had a crime scene remediator detail my car for me after. Gawdawful mess would be an understatement.

with the lying witnesses it's also possible a gun was hidden
Things always seem to be made worse by others around these scenes.
Just as I am convinced Will Smith would still be alive if his passenger wasn't a douchebag.

Where does JM live? Why would he be in Terrytown other than to follow Gasser?
I think someone mentioned he actually doesn't live too far from there.

Gasser's in the right lane... car in front at the light
cars behind
McKnight on the right illegally
car to the left

JM wasn't in a lane. Go back in this thread and look at the google earth pics and the pics from the scene and you'll understand what I'm saying. It was discussed in detail a few pages back.
