The other cop was able to 1. Not run like a maniac and 2. Calmly speak to the group of teenagers, who were calmly speaking back to him. When you don't put irrational idiots into a position of unchecked power, situations are handled much more appropriately. Unfortunately the doppy cop doesn't fit that ideal.

The news media has refused to hear the neighborhood’s side of this story. The video being distributed is only a very small segment of what happened. This information being distributed by the media and others is extremely distorted and in some cases outright lies. PLEASE HELP US STOP THE BROADCASTING OF THIS IGNORANCE. The media is trying to make it look like our neighborhood is a white’s only, racist area. Anyone who has spent even a few minutes in our area knows this is an outright LIE. The unfortunate result is that our neighbors are now being threatened. We have also had cars and property in and around the park area vandalized this weekend. Wrong. It's not. I live right down the road. Watch the video of the guy who has been in the neighborhood for years and raised two kids in it. It's the one half way down the page. Oh, and he's black. LINK

This was a bad incident, but it is not the majority by any means. I refuse to have people who don't live here spout bull shite like this out. They have no fricking idea what they're talking about. I've lived here for 12 years and can give an actual account of the area, unlike some who think they know everything because they watched a 7 minute video.

OK so what looks to be 3-4 cops run into a chaotic situation with many many more people involved, have reports of fighting etc. and solve the situation with one arrest and no injuries? Where is the problem? Some girl had to lay on the ground for 3 minutes before she was released to her family?

And this is a cause for a discussion on society and race... seriously?

The taking of video is a young people thing. That's not to say that adults don't ever video anything, but it's not the cultural norm. They are more likely to be upset and call the police or voice their frustrations to the people without thinking to pull out their phones and catch it on video.

In other words, their first thoughts aren't, "Oh this would be good to put on social media" or "Let's get this to the local and national media and get a story started".
