Six weeks after announcing it was shutting down after more than 50 years in business, McGlinchey Stafford has filed for bankruptcy, hastening the demise of a firm that was once among the state’s most prominent and high profile. The filing on Thursday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Louisiana is a Chapter 7 filing, meaning the firm is liquidating its remaining assets to satisfy creditors, not a Chapter 11 filing, which allows a debtor to stay in business while coming up with a plan to pay off debt.

This probably matters to someone, but for the life of me I can't think of who it would be

It’s all about relationships. This is why the rainmakers get paid the most and can absolutely wreck a firm if they leave. No customers. No money.

Same with insurance, engineering firms, and a ton of others that rely on personal customer relationships.

If you do not think Chapter 7s of a large business matters, particularly if a few cascade into may, then you do not understand how the economy works. I can only assume you just got your advance refund from Jackson Hewitt, supersized your McDonald's meal and think you are doing just fine.

15 differemt locations now have empty office space for which they will not get paid.

A few of the offices just had massive renovations That is unpaid contractors who may not be able to survice without those receivables.

For somebody that doesn’t care about lawyers or their business, you sure post in a lot of threads about them.

Most contractors aren’t stupid. I’d bet most hear attorney or doctor and immediately request payment upfront and add an additional fee for potential headaches.
