Move over, Tyson. SMH

Boxer Floyd Mayweather is facing two felony charges alleging theft and "intent to defraud" by passing a bad check to purchase a $200,000 watch in Las Vegas, according to Nevada court records.
Mayweather was not present for a Clark County court hearing Monday and was instead represented by his counsel. Mayweather's official charges are "theft, value $100,000 or greater" and "draw or pass check with intent to defraud, value $1,200 or greater."
Clark County prosecutors filed an initial criminal complaint on April 27, according to court records obtained by ESPN, followed three days later by a court order that Mayweather appear before a judge. Monday's appearance by his attorney apparently fulfilled that order.
The complaint alleges Mayweather wrote a $200,000 check from a Wells Fargo Bank account to Gold and Beyond, a high-end Las Vegas resale boutique, on Dec. 31, 2024. The complaint alleges Mayweather wrote the check when he "had insufficient money, property, or credit" in the account to pay it in full.
The theft charge claims Mayweather wrote the check "in exchange for obtaining property or services" while "knowing that the check would not be paid when presented." The complaint alleges Mayweather did this "knowingly, feloniously, and without lawful authority."

I'm sure it was just a misunderstanding. He always seemed so careful with his money.

Dude made way too much to having cash flow problems. I'm guessing he lost a shite ton gambling

two hundred grand for a used watch, and he's apparently broke

The dude's former business manager, who he is suing, alleging theft, has screenshots of him warning Floyd for years he was spending too much. Floyd lied about a lot of stuff, like saying he had no idea his jet was being sold. The business manager has the messages from Floyd, where he not only knew about it but also told them to do it. Floyd is trying to save face, but he's broke

If you watch the video I posted, he had to pawn his watches for a loan. The only thing keeping him afloat right now is some monthly money from real estate investments, but it's not enough to cover his expenses. His broke is different than an average person's, but yes, he is pretty broke.

That and his entourage has drained him much like entourages do. At one point, he didn't want his entourage flying with him on his jet so he would charter them their own jet to the same destination.

Sounds like a case of "People who Annoy You rich"

It sounds like MC Hammer is his financial adviser. At least Wu Tang Financial would have advised him to diversify his bonds…

Even then, I don't see how it's possible to spend a billion dollars so easily. He needs to change his name from Floyd to Lloyd.

It's an age old story ... it happens all the time with black athletes especially.

Yeah me too. I hate when my jet is overcrowded.

yet still felt entitled to a $200,000 watch.

Yep. Was just about to post this.
This is what Dave Ramsey means when he says “you cannot out-earn your stupidity”.
Or more generally, your capacity to want will always be greater than your capacity to earn. If you pay for every want, you will go broke no matter how much you make.

He made more than Peyton Manning made his entire career on the Pacquaio fight alone.

what a moran

I couldn't blow the money he made if I tried. But I'm also not a moron.
The Internal Revenue Service has a tax lien of more than $7.2 million levied against Mayweather for unpaid taxes in 2018 and 2023. A Las Vegas-area gated community filed a separate lien of over $22,500.

I commented on a now defunct boxing site many years ago that I firmly believed Floyd would go broke before he hit 50 when I saw stories about him betting HUGE sums of money on sporting events with the casinos in Vegas.
And add to that the amount of hanger's-on that he has surrounding him that just suck the money away in quick time.
The list of athletes that go bust once they hang it up is long and as old as the hills.
He gets no sympathy from me for being so stupid.
