If the primary reason it wasn’t this prevalent prior to these movements was “social pressure”, you would expect to see an equatable increase over all subgroups and ages.

Yes, this is completely wrong. Kids do not need to be able to talk about feelings of societal persecution. They should handle it like out generation did and suffer in silence while letting it fester into depression with their best case scenario being turning into functioning alcoholics and a worse case scenario of suicide.
This is the way.
