An article in the Advocate online says both the Highland Road and Bluebonnet stores have been sold. I knew something was up with the Highland Rd store. Its inventory has become embarrassingly low for a while.

Anybody familiar with Robert's Fresh Market out of New Orleans?

Robert's a good dude, but he's always getting fresh with my mom and sister.

Robert's is awesome. I always liked mathernes though, it sucks they have to be bought for robert's to come to BR. FYI, it's pronounced without sounding out the T

They also have awesome premade dishes and serve several different kinds of hot lunches every day.

To be honest, who isn't?

Robert's had a great beer selection. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the information. The Highland store has been in decline. Maybe the new owner will put some new life into it.

The store hasn't seemed much different. I have been going 2-3 times a week for the last 5 years.

Robert's is decent but very pricey.

Yep, the main grocery area has seen better days, but the wine/beer aisle has been kept up nicely.

Hope Bill finds another venue for his wine dinners.

I am in there 6-7 times a week and I agree with Russian. It has been low in some inventory lately. It has been in need of a remodel for years. Employees there told me about the sale last week. The new owners are going to revamp the store.

Good store. Also serviced by Associated Grocers of Baton Rouge, so the transition from Matherne's shouldn't be very difficult.

The wine, yes, but not the beer.

It sounds like Bill is going to stick around and work for the new owners.

I live in lakeview and go to Robert's all the time. Personally I love the place, it's a little pricey with some of the food, but the overall quality of the store is good. I'd say it's a few steps below whole foods and a few steps above the regular chains. Their prepared foods are always good.. The real reason why I go so often is for the lakeview ladies though

It's expensive as frick. That's why I never shop there, even though it's the closest grocery store to my house by some margin.

Matherne's

Problem is that you have to win the lottery to buy your groceries there.
