0.3 repeating, or exactly 12.0 inches worth.

If you were to measure and cut down to an infinitely small scale, how long would each third of the yard stick be? A true one third will always have a 3 in the next smaller decimal place.

12.0 inches worth.

It absolutely isn't like that. You're trying to sound smart, but instead, you look like a retard. It is depressing how stupid some of yall are.

It'd be funny if it weren't so sad.

You’re arguing that 1/3 of something expressed in decimal format doesn’t trail off (repeat) infinitely?

It's still a little bit funny.

1/3 funny, 1/3 sad, 1/3 incredulous.

What point do you think that's helping you make?

Sure, if you insist on using a base 10 number system, and if you insist on using decimal representation, and if you insist on NOT using a vinculum, and if you insist on being a fricking dumbass...

Yeah, and if you'll notice, eventually you run into the fricking wall.

I asked for this to be expressed in yards of decimal format, not inches.

While we know that it approaches a limit, repeating 3 is not a physically measurable point on an infinitely small scale.

I don't give a shite what you asked for it to be in. It can easily be divided into 3 exactly equal pieces.

Again, stop trying to sound smart. It isn't working for you.

Also fun fact, .3 repeating is easily precisely shown on a yard stick. It's at 12 inches.

No shite. That’s the whole point of why it’s a logical Paradox in the first place.

It's not.

We have a symbol called a vinculum or overbar to express 1/3 as a decimal. Why are you ignoring this?

But it's not a paradox. It's a simple question with a simple solution that simple-minded people think is simply mind-blowing for some reason.

Oh jesus.

It was carefully sliced with a straight edged blade, not a single atom was lost.

I think the people having trouble are thinking that a measurement, 10 pounds in this case, is something other than a manmade concept and therefore can't be questioned. Like it came down from the gods.

The way to go about a fair answer to the question is to calculate the exact number of gold atoms in a 10 lbs bar. Divide that number by 3 and the divide it amongst the kids. One persons may have one more atoms, one personal have one less but no scale that a person who buys gold will enable to measure that small of a difference.
