Write 0.3 then draw a horizontal line over the top of the 3. Done.

You can attempt to draw a line 0.3(repeating) units long, but I’d argue that the line should always be a tiny bit longer.

Wait. Hang on. He'd argue, y'all.

Time to revise math. He'd ARGUE.

You changed the units, which I already said would make it possible.

So, that means it's possible.

This entire thread is what happens when people who didn't go very far in math run into people that have.

The former thinks their lack of understanding = knowledge.

"I don't understand it therefore it cannot be true!!!"

Infinity+1, obviously.

You didn’t divide a dollar into 3 equal parts. You assigned a new unit where 1 item equals 1/3 of a dollar. What would your change be if you just purchased 1 item with a dollar? 66 cents? That’s not 2/3 of a dollar.
You're just being deliberately obtuse.

The OP's story is stupid. The scale just needs to be modified to indicate repeating decimals, or fractional units, or he should have used a balance and picked up a set of weights with 1/3rd pound ones. Because I promise you some fricking genius figured out how to divide a pound into thirds, and wasn't confused by a fricking repeating decimal.

Not to mention, numbers are merely representations.

Even a caveman who had never heard of numbers could simply pull out a string. Measure the bar end to end and cut the string exactly the length of the bar.

Then, fold the string 3 times.

Then. Cut the bar the length of the strings.

This is one of my fave questions.

I want to know what the frick is in the location the universe will be in tomorrow that it isn't in now!!!

Can it even be called a location?

Don't we all!

Probably not. As far as we know, it is nothingness, which is as difficult to comprehend as infinity. It's not empty space out there, but absolutely nothing at all.

Yep.

The human mind has no idea WTF to do with the word "nothing".

If you ask someone to describe "nothing", they won't get 5 words in without failing. LOL

OK. Another question

If I lived exactly on edge of the universe......let's say my left shoulder is on the edge, would I be able to see the "nothing" area? Or, would my field of vision be entirely isolated to the right?

The absolute absence of anything.

The universe would be expanding faster than your field of vision can comprehend. You would never be able to see nothing.

If you divided the universe into 1/3s........apparently...........you end up with a verrrrrrrry small new universe.

This is my best guess from my limited understanding:

Neither space nor time exist to your left at that instant, but I think if you were to look to your left you would see the newly expanded universe anyway.
