The best source of information just rolled up in a wheel chair, after an 18 hour flight from the othersisde of the world. I'm confident they're not shoving the second shooter to an undisclosed island with Michael Jackson, Tupac, and Elvis.

Yeah, it kinda is. Instead of one guy firing a high powered rifle into a crowd of people, you have two guys firing high powered rifles into crowds of people.

Do you own a firearm?

When I hear someone refer to an AR as a “high powered rifle,” I assume they know jack shite about firearms.

How do you know she's the best source of information in regards to the shooting? Media is already saying she said she didn't know.

FWIW, to those who are evidently clueless, the drop of a .223 round from a 100 yd zero is roughly 1ft at 300 yds and roughly 2 1/2 ft at 400 yds

Well you're wrong but it proves the point further. Shooting from that elevation, gravity had less of an effect than on flat ground. For both shooting from the elevated position and shooting up to the elevated position. So not nearly as much drop as one would think.

And that's a problem. I get the fringes but truly if you are a well adjusted person this shouldn't go past mild curiosity, being angry or obsessive about it isn't a particularly good sign for your mental health.

It hasn't even been three full fricking days. Impatient millennials wanting every detail of everything tweeted immediately, even if it blows an investigation.

Actually I know this very well, seeing as how I have done competitive shooting and archery for nearly 20 years. I was merely speaking in terms of line of sight from the ground. Taking elevation into account merely allows the impact zone to be smaller at those distances than what I referenced since gravity has less of an effect on the round whether shooting up or down, within reason that is.

In other words holding approximately at the bad guys head allowing for bullet drop into the torso means he gets it in the neck or the head instead....win-win.

Frick that. They should have had snipers on the roofs of the other buildings to shoot the weapons out of his hands when he started firing on the crowd. Then we could have interrogated him and found out his motive. It's a win win.

There’s a middle ground between casually interested and obsessed, just saying.

I’m just a numb nuts plinker with my AR and pretty decent with it. No military or LEO training.

This was obvious the second you posted that it is completely reasonable to fire, from the ground, up 32 stories, at night, while being peppered with bump fired semi automatic gunfire, into a crowded hotel. All after responding to the general area, identifying where the shooter was, establishing cover with your long gun (which is not your primary weapon) all within 11 minutes.

The ballistics alone, during daylight, without being shot at would take a trained individual several shots just to be able to put a bullet on the same floor as the shooter, not to mention actually hitting the target.

Come on, guys. Think, really think about what you are suggesting.

Could have other persons of interest and don't want to tip them off.

As AUTimbo has said and I reiterated. This has to be one of the biggest misconceptions on the logistics of him shooting.

From that range and height the bullet was only dropping maybe 5-8 inches. It's not like he was shooting an arrow 400 yards.

With the exact set up, distance, elevation, etc. if you point at a person it would still hit that person.

What if I don't think there's all that much more and they are just buttoning up an investigation into his acquaintances from the last year to check all the boxes?

Odds are the guys been a little social with his habit soooomewhere (range, a friend, a message board) and they are trying to make sure he doesn't have anyone tooooo like minded in that circle.

Old, isolated dude that is into the thrill of gambling and shooting might just be a jerk that doesn't have anything to live for and wants to go out in a fantasy he's had.
