I have an AR and 200rds in my patrol car. Most of our deputies have rifle and shotgun.

Yeah, it kinda is. Instead of one guy firing a high powered rifle into a crowd of people, you have two guys firing high powered rifles into crowds of people. Do you think that out of the thousands of rooms in that hotel, the rooms within 100 feet of the shooter's suite all happened to be empty?
Even if a cop was a great shot on the range, this isn't on the range. This would be firing from ground level, trying to hit something a few hundred yards away and at least 300 feet in the air (AND WILL SHOOT BACK). How many cops are trained in that kind of marksmanship?

I'll step up and agree with Scoop here and IMHO this situation warranted such a response IF the shooters position was clearly identified. A man sized target from a supported firing position 3-400 yds away is not "firing haphazardly " into a building. It is a measured response to a shooter in the act of killing /wounded HUNDREDS. Given the circumstances I would want any of my qualified marksman in the unit to return fire in a precise and accurate manner if they indeed had the training and were in a position to do so.
The containment of a person firing hundreds of rounds onto a civilian populace far outweighs any potential damage to a single innocent in this type of situation.
Some of you folks need to schedule an OBGYN appointment to have your vajay-jays checked ...
FWIW, to those who are evidently clueless, the drop of a .223 round from a 100 yd zero is roughly 1ft at 300 yds and roughly 2 1/2 ft at 400 yds. So that's not what I would consider spraying rounds haphazardly into a building. The only one spraying rounds Sunday was the nutcase on the 32nd floor.

I'm not mad at anyone, it's clearly you who's mad with your highly emotional response. You don't know what I think. I want them to confirm something, idc what it is. Furthermore why would someone expect the police to confirm "tinfoil bullshite"? You sound stupid. Keep the thread on track.

The more time that passes without answers, the crazier things will get.
Mass shooters in the past 10 years or so have been either obvious lunatics like Lanza and Holmes or religiously motivated shooters like The Pulse shooting, Chattanooga, Ft. Hood and San Bernardino.
A wealthy baby boomer doing this with no answers after almost 72 hours just feeds the beast as far as conspiracy.

The best source of information just rolled up in a wheel chair, after an 18 hour flight from the othersisde of the world. I'm confident they're not shoving the second shooter to an undisclosed island with Michael Jackson, Tupac, and Elvis.

The investigators need to get any and everyone involved with this massacre. They owe it to the families of the 58 dead people and the 527 injured to get it right.

I’m just a numb nuts plinker with my AR and pretty decent with it. No military or LEO training. My entire point was that once his position was established, he could have received suppression fire from the ground that would have been a nominal risk to other hotel patrons.
