What parts are you trying to figure out? Dude had a bunch of guns and shot up a lot with 20k people. Logistically, it's not that difficult to pull off. What part of the how is missing?

Go get shot at and see what your reaction is. Might surprise you.

I'd also imagine more people would've run had other people around them been running. There were huge groups of people just laying down

It's scary that people didn't have a clue where the shooting was coming from and thought it was safest to get down.

Someone squeezing off multiple rounds in an area with structures all around is going to make it difficult to figure out the origin of the fire because of the sounds bouncing around all over the place. No way in hell those people had any clue where the fire was coming from.

That’s why there are always reports of multiple shooters at first. It sounds like the fire is coming from multiple places.

CBS legal executive Hayley Geftman-Gold was fired over comments she made on social media about not being sympathetic toward victims of the Las Vegas shooting because they were likely Republicans.

On Sunday night, at least 58 people were killed and more than 500 were injured when gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on country music festival attendees from his 32nd floor room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel, according to local authorities.

Geftman-Gold wrote in a Facebook post comment how she didn't have any hope that Republicans, "Repugs," would "ever do the right thing," and that she isn't sympathetic to the shooting victims because country music fans are often "Republican gun toters." The Daily Caller was the first to report on her comments.

"If they wouldn't do anything when children were murdered I have no hope that Repugs will ever do the right thing," Geftman-Gold wrote on Facebook. "I'm actually not even sympathetic bc country music fans often are Republican gun toters."

In hindsight, laying down would not have been a horrible idea. What you would not have wanted to do was run together with a large group of people.

Was it Saving Private Ryan where they say a single person is a waste of ammo so spread out? Same idea here.

I’m late to the thread, sorry, Didn’t read all, just wondering. When getting shot at, who thinks of pulling out their cell phone and record this? I mean, I’m running for my life. Like I said, I’m late to the posting.....

On the same note, here's what a real live person on my Facebook feed thought about the matter:

quote:

ive been shaking and nauseated since i woke up and i have this feeling of wanting to go home to somewhere safe but i cant think of a single place where that is true anymore, this country is not safe for anyone, but especially not for POC, LGBTQ*, women, marginalized groups of any kind, but especially not for those at the intersection of any of those identities frick this frick guns frick white supremacy frick the patriarchy. it's all tied together and held up by many things, but particularly quietly and insidiously by the privileged who refuse to acknowledge the problem, who prioritize their own comfort rather than calling out bigoted family/friends/acquaintances. you are complicit in this. i am tired and hurting from this world and to all my friends who feel the same, i love you and i see you and i hold you a little closer today and all days

You do not know where the nearest piece of cover is that can accommodate them, so the logical thing to do is get down.

Logical thinking is that the gunman is on the ground. Getting down, in most cases, is the best thing you can do

This seems plausible until another viable motive can be discovered. Degenerate Gambler tired of casino always getting theirs and decides to make them feel pain...

People who are conditioned to have their phone in their hands 100% of the time anyway - and a ton of them were already recording the concert or going live on social media from the venue. Probably 95% of the people there had their phones in their hands already.

A lot of people already had their cell phones out recording the festival.

I think a lot of people were already recording the concert and just kept recording.

That said, there are some people in at least one video just standing around while shots are being fired with cover right in front of them. Those people were stupid beyond belief.

Many of the videos that I watched had started before the gunfire started.

I would just speculate that a lot of the videos were just people filming the last part of the concert.

I could not imagine hearing gunfire and trying to keep my phone recording though.

Seems like it to most of them a bit to realize it was gunfire
