Mathematics is being removed from a major course of study at a university?

There is a sub-segment if a small minority population that isn't good at math, so we have to get rid of math for everyone.

I used to think this was the case until I read some of the posts made on various message boards and social media sites. I am amazed at the nearly complete lack of command of one's native language that so many tend to display. Then again, after reading through some of those posts, I don't believe they'd be able to pass an exam in the first place.

Well I wouldn’t use a message board to judge people’s command of language.

Better would be to actually read what professionals put out with spell check and editors and it’s still wrong.

Serious question, what other liberal arts are there?

To be fair, you’re judging on grammar as opposed to literary knowledge most likely and that is a middle school and high school concept.

Aren’t English majors more focused on English literature as opposed to grammar and spelling, although you should have to master the former in order to direct the latter.

I would guess there are not too many Math Majors since Liberal Arts colleges are not Tech schools. And English as a Major is worthless. English majors become English teachers and cycle perpetuates itself.

Seems like the world would be a better place if all colleges axed useless majors like math, english, religious studies. Those should be limited to masters programs. Those students protesting don't understand the favor that their college has done for them.

Math? Psssh, that’s sooooo 1600’s. Something so old & rooted in racism has no place in our society if we want to progress. Numbers are a social construct anyway and should be assigned to things in life

How’d I do?

My guess is that the trustees are looking to kill the college so they can sell the land to developers.

That’s what happened with Sweetbriar and some other girl-only colleges in that neck of the woods the past decade or so.

In all honesty, a Catholic lib arts school cutting math probably isn't that crazy

But Philosophy, English, history, art, theology, sociology, etc.?

I'm interested to see what the other majors are
