What idiots? Someone who wants a reliable alternative to air travel in the US?
Someone who thinks we have better ways to spend 20 billion dollars that a mission to Mars that a private company is already working on, more efficiently, with a better timeline?

Research into technologies capable of transporting people to Mars is pretty likely to result in something like that. Just throwing that out there.

NASA's budget is approximately 0.5% of the federal budget.
I wish they would get more.

there a probably a million different things that one could and should bitch about government spending before they could or should get to space research, which actually yields innovation and drive
