politics....yea women are known for their quality takes there

work...unless you work in the same field and are doing research...wtf is there to say about work other than it is going great or it sucks? nobody wants to hear you sit there and complain or rave about your boss, coworker etc

current affairs...again...females are known for their non emotional takes on this.

I always call and get all my female friends takes on politics and current affairs... :rotflmao: :rotflmao:

movies and books...really?

family..... prolly should worry more about your own

its no wonder we have constant threads on here about married couples not happy and not having sex. we got posters that are 40-50 taking guys trips, going to bars, talking to women they havent seen in 5 years monthly checking up on their kids and husband

I mean I have a good male friend I’ve known for 20+ years who is a stats guy for UK and just today we discussed Pope’s use of the 1-3-1 on defense.

I feel a little attacked here.

jesus christ brother......move on...she doesnt want you

Up until the last year we talked a lot more than once a month because we worked together. We talked several times a week. Over this past year it's probably been once a month, honestly maybe less I don't really keep tabs on exactly when we speak because it's not a big deal.

His wife is allowed to be his friend. his relationship with her has nothing to do with all that.

I’ve generally agreed with 777 on the thesis here that it’s a bad idea for men and women to be close friends when married but I do think he jumped the shark with that last post.

Travelling for work with women isn't necessarily a complete no-go but does require boundaries. Separate rooms, non adjoining, etc. Gotta have great boundaries outside of sleeping arrangements too. Many affairs that have happened on work trips start during downtime at the hotel bar.

Yup, and intentions were never there. But the mixed drinks were.

As well as no chance of being caught

Rooms just a walk away.

It wouldn't feel even a tad weird for your wife to tell you she's going to spend the afternoon having lunch with another guy just to "catch up?

Lunch wouldn’t bother me. We went to high school together and know all the same people. Spending the afternoon together would be a little strange, she wouldn’t do that and neither would I.

Yep.

Recipe for an affair

- a dash of overconfidence that you'd never cross the line
- a pinch of taboo for another woman
- a cup or two of alcohol at the hotel bar to lower inhibitions
- ample downtime in the evenings

Mix em all up and you've got a great marriage killing concoction.

Respectfully, if she spends 2 hours hanging out at the mall or spends 2 hours having lunch, what's the difference?

my point was not that you dont discuss those things with your wife, family or in group settings where its male and females

my point was...if you have not seen a married female "friend" in over 5 years....im not calling them up once a month to shoot the shite, check on their family, get their opinions on shite

but the thesis of the post is married men or women should not be having friends of the opposite sex where they hang out, just the two of them.
