If she didn’t live hours away, would you hang with her just you and her?

I think this is the only way for man and woman to be just friends.

There cannot be any physical attraction between the two at all .

Consisting of what? Trips to the scrip club or just a day or two hiking, golfing, etc?

Hiking, sports events, concerts, bars, etc... It's been over 10 years since I've been to a strip club and I don't have a desire for that.

This^^^

I’ve been married for 20 years and have a couple of life long female friends whom I didn’t stop being friends with because of my marriage.

We’re all married now, speak/text monthly and have dinner with our families when they are in town.

Seems to be an insecurity thing on this board.

Nah probably not, we mostly did that when we worked together, or were in school.

Sounds like your current relationship with this girl isn't really what this thread is about

I 1000% do not believe for a second you are not a divorced female.

One of the things in this thread he asked was about talking on the phone with them, I probably talk to her once a month on the phone. That's what I think is a bit absurd. We're still "friends" for sure.

we were not talking about that

old friends from HS or college that you hang out with as families...thats fine

this all started cause ole boy didnt think he was in the wrong for messaging an EX and being friends with her and leaving his wife every time she brought it up

That's probably the difference here though. I'm willing to bet you're not hanging out with them individually, without spouses/partners.

I also have male friends but we all hang out together with SOs. We're not hanging out individually like we did before we were in longer term relationships.

Family dinners are fine. Do you have dinner with just the two of you? Do you spend evenings with her at a hotel room on a "friend's trip"?

Do those conversations ever discuss love, sex, marital issues?

I know you guys are smarter than this, at least I hope so.

Typically I'm not talking about staying out to 2 or 3 am at a "club", I'm more referring to grabbing a few beers and watching some football, or going to a brewery.

There's a chasm of difference between going on double dates with your wife there and carrying on a friendship and going out to dinner with just a female friend, no wife in attendance.

IMO this is completely different than having a platonic female friend.

I have women friends I share an athletic hobby with. We text a bit, talk about every other day at work. Wife knows and doesn't care. I know you said no co-workers but I meet with them outside of work too.
