no one on this board does whatever they want on their current salary

so this entire thread is pointless

I don't agree with that.

Its more than 90..

From 1990 to 2016. 60K is equivalent to 112K. Which is VERY doable even for my fancy arse.

When I graduated from college in 2000 I made 47K, and lived like a king. I imagine I still could have had a lot of fun with 35K.

Did you marry a young pretty girl that everyone acknowledges as such?

If so, then that is her job -- to spend your money in lawful ways that please her. This society that we White People have built has this "tidbit of Truth" as one of our longest and most well-known rules.

If didn't want to follow that rule, you should not have married a young pretty woman.

My wife and I were talking, and I told her that she spends way more of our money than I do. Long story short, I was boasting and told her that if I were single I could make a budget that would allow me a house, and still save on 35k a year.

Congrats on the divorce

So 80K using 2002.

Thats what I make right now. Which is very doable. Even with my expensive tastes.

One can certainly live comfortably without any of those things.

I went to 2-3 LSU games a year , a couple of music festivals a year, trips back home to visit the parents, etc.

Also took random Road trips to Austin, Florida, Chicago.

But live comfortable is not the bar that is set. The bar is "do whatever you want." Unless you never want any of those things, and don't lie, you couldn't have them.

Well I'm guessing 35k a year would be about 2k a month estimate.

$750 house note (small house remember your by yourself)

So you make over $35000 a year but cannot do simple math or know the difference between your and you're?

You could do any one of those, maybe. But not all of them together.

You couldn't buy a house. But you could rent a house and do all of the other things and then some.

Where in the OP does it set the bar at "doe whatever you want"?

It doesn't. It does set the bar at having a house yourself and saving though, things you can't do on $35k after you factor in all the associated costs.

ETA: I'd love for those downvoting to show me how you can afford to buy a house on your own on a $35k salary. But I'm guessing instead you'll just hide behind the downvotes.

Congrats on splitting your costs between at least 3 people.

You, most assuredly, could own a home on $35k by yourself

My nanny's note on her house is like $400/month

She just lives in a rural community
