I guess you havent heard. New Orleans is 100% charter and has been for years. There are no school districts here and there haven't been any for years.

It's goldennugget though. Not going to daycare will not be the thing to ruin this child's social skills.

are you really trying to defend New Orleans public schools?

You actually have to be proactive and select a school. Since it's so close to the end of the year, your choices will likely be limited. People who live in Lakeview have a zip code preference to be accepted to Hynes, which is a good school and is in the neighborhood. Or they could go to St. Dominic, but that's obviously Catholic.

it's a shitty school system for normal people (not "connected" or exceptionally bright). not anyone can just walk into its good schools.

What if they don't get accepted there?

No private because we are talking about public schools in New Orleans

To attend true public schools you don't have to be accepted til you get to college

The schools that aren't Lusher aren't shite. I'm sure some are, but the schools aren't organically bad schools. They just serve all students so they have higher incidents of extreme behaviors and students with IEPs.

You have to drink gallons and gallons of koolaid to teach at KIPP. I lasted a year.

You thought you didn't know how charter schools operate? Educate yourself, brother. It's not that hard. There are plenty of open enrollment schools that accept every student.

My oldest is only two so I haven't looked into public schools yet. However, aren't all of those schools you listed charter schools and very difficult to get into? I don't know a single kid that lives near me in Lakeview that goes to a public school. Do you know why this is? I'm assuming either they feel the private schools are that much better to where they would willingly spend an extra $10k per year or they just want to throw away money. Which of the two is it?

Do you know the difference between a public school and a charter school?
