Mom and Dad work their asses off so the 12 year old can play travel ball and be on the road most weekends. Crazy people.

If I ever have a kid my wife isn't working
Despite the rest of goldennugget's crappy posts in this thread, as a somewhat recent new father I agree with this.

If you can afford it, I would recommend the mother stay home for the first 18 months. My wife and I just couldn't afford the lifestyle we were used to on my salary alone. Key is to not push your finances to that point before kids.

Before we had the kid, I remember thinking 12 weeks of maternity leave would be plenty and that is just not realistic. I would say 6 months should be bare minimum based off my recent experiences. I also remember thinking I wouldn't have a problem leaving my kid with strangers, but even after 14 months its still difficult to drop him off in the mornings. However, the little one is recognizing friends at daycare and learning to talk so I think daycare will be good for his social development and such.

If you do start daycare at 12 weeks prepare yourself to be constantly sick as frick for the next year. Anytime your little one gets sick so will you.

I don't understand what's crazy if it's important to their child. Surely that's not all they are working their arse off for right?

Married guys with kids and money -- have it so much better than single ballers.

I recommend following my path to success -- be a single baller through your late 20's. Do ALL the single good living you need to. (sew them seeds baws.) Then find an amazing woman, have amazing kids, and have an amazing life.

Get all the benefits of a great and happy family, without any regrets of ever "missing out"

The idea that women have always stayed home with their kids is BS. Yes kids have always been taken care of by a close knit family and friends structure, but that was rarely just the mom.

I wasn't a fan of my wife working full time and it was incredibly hard time wise. But my wife likes to work 20-25 hours a week and I fully support that. Find a good daycare and part time daycare is a very good thing for your kid and family. It lets your wife get out in public and feel accomplished, and it allows your kids to be around other kids and to be in a structured environment. Napping on a schedule, drinking with a normal cup, socialization, etc.

More like wages are stagnant and inflation isn't so people need 2 income households to survive. Blame feminists if it makes you feel more manly.

Inflation and stagnant wages have nothing to do with doubling the work force?

Nope, not at all. And the fact that you take this as common place really shows a lot about your life quality.
