That's where they start planting the seeds....not to mention the thought of leaving your child with minimum wage strangers.

Another thing someone mentioned (was it you) is a stay at home mom going back to work. That is a valid concern. For some women, if they try to go back to work after not working for a few years, they might have trouble finding a job again. Guess it would depend on what they did before they became a SAHM.
A friend of mine tells me how her mom stays on her and her sister about continuing to work. Her sister is married to a doctor and at one time considered being a SAHM so her mom stayed on her and didn't want her to even think about not working (these are women in their upper 30s). Their dad left when they were younger, she (the mom) was a SAHM. She had to quickly find work, but the only job she could find paid just above minimum wage. She doesn't want to see that happen to her daughters.
No one ever really knows what will happen and one day if the wife/mother has to become the provider, expecting a wife to be a SAHM isn't really all that realistic IMO unless the family is wealthy.

for sending them to some kind of preschool at 2 or 3 depending on the kid but a 6 month old is getting nothing out of being at daycare for 9 hours a day
I never understand this. People having kids just to dump their months old infant off at a daycare so mommy can go to her job that barely pays her SUV note and clothes bills for her "career."

I know several married engineering couples who each make more than 250k a year........

It's funny how all of these dudes now look at a woman's earning potential before marrying. Never crossed my mind at the time.

So if the wife didn't have a job she would not have the SUV note and clothes bill? Like I said earlier. If daddy up and left or got killed then it is probably in her best interest that she has a career. Or does daddy need mommy to stay home so he can feel like "a man"?

If he leaves the court will make sure she still gets plenty of his money and if he dies that's what life insurance is for

I was just saying I think it's stupid to drop off a months old child in a daycare due to poor planning by a married couple.
And yes, I think a man should be able to provide for his family and not depend on a second income. Any additional income that the wife could make should be considered gravy. Sorry if it offends you, but I was brought up to do whatever I had to to support the family myself and not depend on anyone else.

I left the trust fund scenario for a working wife that makes $150+ and I will never look back. A woman that works for everything she has develops a respect and appreciation for money that trust fund women never have.

My wife took off a year for our son. He was in daycare for a year and a half. Preschool at 2 1/2. She likes work. He likes school. Has worked out wonderfully.

Nothing at all offends me. I am just saying there are other ways to look at it.
As for as the poor planning, I agree with that.. There are a lot of stupid people who just make decisions without planning shite out then starts wondering where all their money is going..
But to think all men should be able to provide for his family and not depend on a second income isn't all that realistic today. So if a woman wants to be a doctor she shouldn't be able to be a doctor or get any type of education because her husband is suppose to be the sole provider while she stays home with the kids? What about when the kids get older and they are all at school?
Again, you don't offend me at all. My dad worked in a plant, was the sole provider while my mom stayed home. When I went to school, there were no more kids in the house so my mom had some type of part time job just to have something to do, but times change man... My dad made enough to buy a house, have two vehicles, house and vehicle insurance, we were fortunate to have everything we needed, but the cost of living today is a lot more expensive today.. It has surpassed inflation. Times change so you have to adapt.

Day care is bad for child development
This is an ignorant statement.
1. It helps the immune system develop.
2. It helps develop the kid's personalities/social interaction.
3. It gets them accustomed to a school structure and then they won't be the weird awkward kid on the first day of school.

I agree. Parents who try to keep their kids out of everything, wants to bundle them up when its a little cold outside, etc... They have the kids that are always sick.

I don't have to adapt. I live on a large piece of land that I bought. I receive no checks from the government.
I support my family without any governmental support.
