I don't think the "Dollar General" has a good corporate structure.

Good luck with that.

Stay at home moms are easy prey for players.

odds are your mother (jf she even worked) was the first woman in your family to have a "career."

my mom worked on and off part-time when i got to middle school. neither of my grandmothers had a career, and obviously their mothers didn't either.

women working jobs and having a career is a very new thing and it's a big reason kids don't know how to behave and become shitty adults.

Yes I would. Maybe not full time. But def would still work. I'm about to be fully vested in my lifetime pension plan at work...would want to keep contributing to that.

Are you eligible to contribute as a part time employee? Our employees aren't

Part time is a good compromise for someone that doesn't want to stay home full time

My mom was a stay at home mom.

My grandmother worked as a nurse for 40 years. She was the mother of 5 daughters and still worked and raised her children.

That's the problem with society. Stop giving the kids things and give the kids some family structure like their mom picking them up from school and not aftercare. Being around is better than giving your kids some electronic or plastic crap.

They have a 20/20 rule for ASRS(Arizona State Retirement System...the pension plan I'm in). You have to work at least 20 hours a week for at least 20 weeks in a fiscal year to be eligible to contribute to ASRS.

Feminism has convinced women they can have both

This is dumb. What about the single mothers who have to be the mother and the father? If you had a daughter, would you want her to live thinking she has to depend on a man or would you want her to be independent?

What about women who don't work and for years they have been out of the work force to be at home moms... then one day their husband decides he wants to up and leave and whatever he is legally supposed to provide isn't enough so the wife has to find a job? Or what about the women who makes the decision she doesn't want to get married or have children?

If anything I am a "realist" and to think that anyone who thinks a mother can only be a committed mother is if she doesn't work and stays at home is nonsense.

That isn't what I meant by give my child the things I didn't have. I meant stuff like good health insurance, being able to afford for them to get braces if they need them. Stuff like that.

There are excellent day care/preschools out there. I know because my kids go to one. It costs a freaking fortune, but we would still take a pretty big financial hit if I quit working to stay at home full time. If you think all day care is bad, it's because you aren't sending your kids to a place that provides enough enrichment.

I'm here...just busy with work now so I don't post much during the day. And I'm asleep by 9 pm most nights now.

Another thing someone mentioned (was it you) is a stay at home mom going back to work. That is a valid concern. For some women, if they try to go back to work after not working for a few years, they might have trouble finding a job again. Guess it would depend on what they did before they became a SAHM.

I'm for sending them to some kind of preschool at 2 or 3 depending on the kid but a 6 month old is getting nothing out of being at daycare for 9 hours a day
