You're telling me a tech genius can't figure out a better way to secure his device than by using duck tape?

Sometimes the simplest solution is the best one.

Zuckerberg isn't a tech genius.

I think it is smart on his part. He should probably do this because of hackers and the NSA.

My only negative comment would be that Mark Z is definitely doing this in part to hide from the NSA. While at the same time being boys with Obama, who is cool with the NSA spying on citizens. If Obama didn't support the NSA spying, then Ed Snowden wouldn't be in asylum in Russia.

So which side is Mark Z on? With his infinite wealth, its easy to be contradictive.

I used to go to fairly high level DOJ meetings in DC and they had a basket outside the conference room into which went all of our cell phones and Blackberries. Partly so everyone could focus on the meeting and not be on their phone, partly to keep people from recording what was being said (easily at least, assuming no on was wired up) and partly for security against someone listening covertly through your device.

A NSA guy told me this. When you carry a cellphone, just accept that you are carrying a live microphone, camera and GPS that someone somewhere can monitor remotely.

I haven't had it installed in 2 years. Most websites fall back to HTML5 video now. And yes, it is a huge security risk.

It makes sense for him because he's the head of a large tech company. ...and he's likely discussing important information.

Also, this completely proves how intrusive to our private lives technology has become. Even mark Zuckerberg at the center of the tech industry knows there's information being gathered suspiciously that he's having to do this.

Had two separate malware infections on computers at work this week that had a webcam capture module in it. In the past I would have said he's being paranoid, but this stuff is pretty real.

I put tape on my Iphone covering the microphone & camera but have a hard time hearing people when the phone rings and I can't take photos without the pictures looking all black.

I have been covering mine for years. Generally, I go a step further and use a laptop without a webcam though.

Hmmm... for Mark Z probably a good idea...

Personally, I don't think what I do in-front-of, around, or in my laptop is all that important.

Plus, tap over the camera... won't that mess up the computer's ambient light sensor?
