Believe what you want dude. They are leaving Orleans parish for Slidell.
Fact

Let's say the heavens part and the Feds give every city with at least 250,000 residents, $100 million. What the hell would New Orleans do with it? No infrastructure was damaged like in Katrina. The real loss is business and economic activity and resulting tax revenue; but I wouldn't trust most mayors of most cities to dole out that money in a fiscally responsible way. Would you?

if states/municipalities get bailout money, it's going to be for public losses, not private ones
the feds aren't going to just drop $4-5T and let Bunkie, LA decide how to spend its money

Exactly...which is why the mayor's whole stance is based on a pie in the sky, fictional world.

Who knows

I just remember when NOLA got federal funds to fix roads (not sure of the specifics) and they tore up Harrison Ave - which there was absolutely nothing wrong with - instead of fixing the residential streets in Lakeview, which look like what I imagine downtown Fallujah looked like during the height of the Iraq war.

Purely conjecture. Nearly all prosperous US cities have democratic mayors. Maybe Latoya just sucks regardless of party affiliation...

Perhaps the best thing is to let Nola slide into the abyss, and run her coffers dry to provide basic services. Let all the handouts dry up, and the democratic base would be forced to move to Houston/Atlanta. Maybe then the republican majority could win a mayors race.
Yeah that’s not how it works.

oh yeah
of course, nobody in the enabling media will ask any sort of questions about this plan, even though it is clear this is the plan
their whole essence is to run cover for her and protect her idiotic moves while ignoring all sorts of realities going on in Nola

Just about every buyer that she’s dealing with is coming out of Orleans Parish. Many from uptown.
They tell her that they’re getting out while the gettin’s good. Crime is a big reason but the covid got some of them thinking about having more space.

I assume these are retirees with no kids living at home?
Can you be more specific?
No one with a job and kids in school are leaving Uptown or Orleans Parish for shitty Slidell

It’s amazing how people think the letter behind a politicians name at the local level can magically solve the problems.

Don't act like you don't know that $90million+ would go into Destroya's cousins' pockets. They will spend $5-10million on some other "programs" that won't make any difference, in anything, at all.

Dude.....
Fleur de Lis got fixed, took them almost 10 years but they got it done.
The problem was that most of the people around there pay taxes.

Hard to take you seriously with the rhetoric. You seem real defensive for some reason.
To my knowledge it’s a mixed bag but I don’t know all of these people. I only know what she tells me and she’s real busy with people moving from Orleans parish. I know at least 2 families are from uptown because they are looking around us and one bought on the river. At least 3 are from Lakeview but not sure who bought and who still looking.
If you think Slidell is shitty, you don’t know Slidell. Some areas are incredible. There’s a wide assortment. If you want safety and love outdoor life, it’s very hard to beat.

Mayor LaToya Cantrell
@mayorcantrell
Tracey's Original Irish Bar has been ordered to immediately cease operating, until such time as the owner provides an operational & management plan to the City which must include a viable solution to properly handle overcrowding.
