I wouldn’t mind getting one of those to go visit my neighbor.

Probably sink straight to the bottom if it malfunctions.

There's always this guy with his "jetpack gonna sink you" mentality or his "your flamethrower tank is going to burst and engulf your entire body with napalm and your skin will be melting while you frantically reach for your pistol to give yourself a faster death."

Party pooper

This is AT LEAST 3 or 4 years old. Or at least that's how long they've been publicly working on it.

Probably make a good recruiting video, but wouldn’t be very practical at all. Just like shooting skeet for the guys on the ship.

For something like boarding a hostile ship, I would think they would be supported by cover from their own ship until they touched down and could arm themselves. This would be more of a "shock and awe" and "wow factor" thing than it would be a tool with a wide scope of uses.

A more practical application for this is to get medical or other vital personal on board friendly ships.

I think as of now it wouldn't be used as a means of entry for a hostile environment. But, it's certainly looks good as a "proof of concept" idea for future development.

The hover before landing would give the sniper leisure time to aim. Now for medical aid in crowded areas this would be ideal

This would be a good rescue tool. R&D always leads to some wild stuff though, so we shall see.
