This isn't really accurate either. Tolerance plays a big factor here.
When I'm drinking on the regular, two whiskies barely gives me a buzz. But if I don't drink for like a month or two, two IPAs get me ripped.
My tolerance swings wildly.

Agreed, addiction is a general term that has been different degrees to it. I often go a week or so without toking but rarely a full month. I'm sure it's technically an addiction since I've been following that pattern for 25 years, although it's not as severe an addiction as alcohol or harder drugs.

I know few who smoke regularly but I know a ton of people, some well into their 60s, that still love the nose candy

I wouldn't say trashy
But they tend to be a little different and not exactly what I'm looking for in an adult peer group.
I acknowledge professional people with normal responsible lives can smoke weed with some regularity. Most of the ones I'd aspire to be like do not, however. Could change in time.

I don’t really care what people do as long as it doesn’t frick with me and mine. With that said, please stop smoking weed around the city, just walking the streets, especially during events where kids could be present. I’ve had to explain to my kid what “that smell” is.
