In my personal experience I agree. My former college buddies who dealt a little reefer so they can smoke for free are not who I'm talking about.

Not a gateway drug

I think the people you are smoking it with are the real gateway.

I think that kids that are open to experiemnting with marijuana are naturally also the same people in many cases that would be open to experimenting with other drugs as well.

Marijuana is just the first step on the ladder of drug experiemntation.

And no, I have never had a sip of alcohol, a drag of a cigarette, a puff of weed or any other illegal drug or narcotic.

You sound lame. And you'll probably drop dead of a heart attack at 50, jogging home from a fricking smoothie shop.

the only way I would say it could be called a gateway drug is b/c authorities have lied for so long about what happens to you when you smoke it that a kid might get high and be like "Gee, I didn't turn into a violent sex crazed maniac, I didn't see colors or hallucinations, and I didn't stop giving a shite about the world around me... What other drugs have they been blatantly lying about?"
I've always had this exact theory

Illegal drugs are a gateway to other illegal drugs. The path that gateway opens onto leads up to the house where your dealer lives.

People who have illegal drugs are more likely to have illegal drugs. Hanging around people who have and/or use illegal drugs makes it more likely that you will give 'em a try.

All of my dealers only sell one thing.

There are a bunch of straight edge squares itt.

I lost count of how many pounds I sold back on high school. And I never did anything hard, just pot. I started by buying a quarter bag, and selling off 5 of the grams to keep two for free. Next thing you know...

I've never done heroin or meth, along with a lot if other things. To this day, I'll still only take a few things. Weed and alcohol, maybe one a year I'll eat some mushrooms.

Someone already mentioned the DARE propaganda, and kids wondering what other lies were told.

Pharmaceuticals became insanely over prescribed. Kiss would buy a pill for $3, to save money and because alcohol was tough to get at 16-17. Never underestimate convenience. In big cities, illegal drugs are much easier to score than regulated drugs.

Another reason to legalize it... For the children.

I've been offered plenty of other things from people I bought from. Usually painkillers or coke, occasionally X.

Then by your logic if it was legalized it would no longer be a gateway drug. If women are allowed to kill viable human babies (fetuses just in case tuba or Rex read this and wanna be anal) with the whole "it's my body" rhetoric why shouldn't people be allowed to inhale something that at most will make them order a large pizza from Hungry Howles that they'll have to stick in the fridge cause it turns out they weren't THAT hungry to begin with.

Is this another thread where all the anti marijuana peeps just conveniently leave out alcohol in this discussion?

Any of you resident pot heads care to rebutt, denounce, or generally piss and moan about this brief overview of some of the dangers of using marijuana?

The only reason marijuana is any more of a "gateway drug" than nicotine or alcohol is because it is illegal. When someone who previously did not break any laws begins to smoke weed, they soon realize how utterly absurd it is that marijuana is illegal - and begin to have the (some would argue) false belief that other illegal drugs are also relatively safe.

That is the facts.

Can only speak for myself, but bullshite. I got just as high the last time I smoked pot (years ago) as I ever did. Never once did I smoke and think to myself, "this isn't getting the job done, I better go find some heroin."

Agree. The most fricked up/highest I have ever been was towards the end of my pot smoking college days off of some legit purple shite. The only "tolerance" I ever built up to weed was just being able to function better in public and around other people. Never did I have to start smoking more and more to get high

I wouldn't encourage anyone to use marijuana or any other drug. There are risks, and any drug, including marijuana, will affect some people negatively. But the social cost of prohibition is by far the greater evil.

Be honest, you probably would have done this regardless of your marijuana addiction.
