The only thing the article has going for it is that children shouldn't use drugs.....well no fricking shite! You don't allow anyone 18 or under to use pot and problem solved. If you can die fighting in the military, then you should be able to drink/smoke/prostitute up all you want.
I think the biggest reason why it is a gateway drug is b/c of how cannabis is taught to children. It is demonized and taught that only bad things come from it, but then when Jonny goes off to college and tries weed for the first time and just laughs his arse off and eats everything in the house, then Jonny starts to think that other drugs must be the same way. Next thing you know Jonny is on the street giving blow jobs out of his cardboard shelter for some crack.

Kids 12-17 try marijuana first because it's cheap as shite and more readily available. That seems to be the obvious answer here.

I sure hope so. Mushrooms are even safer than cannabis, as long as you don't have a predisposition for crazy. Even then, it's probably only going to bring about what is already latent, not cause it. In terms of physiological effects, it's ridiculously safe and non threatening.

It's been my family's experience that it is a gateway drug. Please leave that crap alone. No good will come from it.

Like anything else, results may vary. It can be of great help to some, and a detriment to others.

Agreed. I actually believe that legalizing marijuana would help a lot of people quit and stay off of dangerous drugs. I had a friend that would say "a person that says they don't have a vice is most likely hiding a much bigger secret"

These studies all confuse correlation with causation.
The only reason Marijuana is considered gateway drug is because it is illegal. If you want it you have to deal with drug dealers and if you use it regularly you end up only hanging out with people that smoke which increases the likelihood that one of you will, either from the drug dealer or someone else who is forced to deal with drug dealers, get a harder drug and introduce it to the group.
It's social conditioning.
If you could go to the store and buy pot it would drastically cut down on the gateway aspect.
Also, no one chases a weed high. That's retarded.

The fact that you have the ability to drive to the store, buy a bottle of everclear, drive home, slam that bottle or drink a bottle of cough syrup or take a bunch of Sudafed and get high as frick and possibly die, but I can't buy weed in a store is insane. Weed haa never killed anyone via overdose. Not once. Ever. And it doesn't cause withdrawals, and it doesn't destroy your liver and stomach and intestines and it takes about a 1000th of the toll tobacco does in your lungs.

Out of all the drugs I have tried in my lifetime(it's a long list) alcohol and nicotine are the worse for me.
Alcohol turned me Into another person entirely. Nicotine is the most addictive, the hard drugs were easy to quit.

Ounce for ounce it's as addictive as heroin, but if you took the same amount of nicotine as you can heroin you'd immediately overdose and die.
