Everyone has their thing. I love cities just for those two.

For all its "tolerance, acceptance, diversity is our strength" mantras - liberalism sure seems to demand absolute conformity of thought.
You just did the same thing the poster you responded to accused another person of doing.

Bump b/c the big parade in Cologne that was mentioned was today. Video (part 1) - skip ahead to 1 hour in for the start.

The parade is incredible, and they throw tons of good chocolate.

Agreed. But the OT is full of people who have spent a sum total of three days in New Orleans in their lifetime who will respond with "Shithole!" and poo poo your sentiment.

I was born and raised in New Orleans. Have roots there going back to before the Civil War. I still own property there. It’s a shithole, but to be fair, the surrounding parishes are shitholes too.

New Orleans Mardi Gras is dumb for the normal goer. How is standing in a crowd 10 deep fighting for plastic beads fun?

There are way better Mardi Gras in the area.

Let me guess, your only experience with New Orleans Mardi Gras was standing on Canal St. downtown watching Endymion?

I honestly can only see the appeal of MG if you live here and your friends live here

Going to the FQ is so stupid during MG

But there is something to be said for day drinking at a friend’s house and going out to St Charles to see random friends passing by and just enjoy being alive.

New Orleans has one of the largest and most unique week long celebrations on earth full of awesome live music, floats that are works of art,

This is my problem with Louisiana. People are small minded and have obviously never been far outside their little bubbles.

I was on St. Charles between Superior Grill and Seafood and I had a blast. Saw old friends I haven’t seen in a long time. Good time and I didn’t get shot. It is nice having friends that live close to the route. Otherwise, I wouldn’t want to be there.

Wife and I did NOLA Mardi Gras this past weekend. We enjoyed ourselves, but give me the rural, Cajun Country Mardi Gras like Tee Mamou and Church Point over that any day of the week.

Sorry, not sorry.
