A lot of the decline in west Dakotas, west Pennsylvania, west Texas, and any other petroleum fracking region is due to the anti-American policies of our current President

The declines were in 2020 to 2021, you know, when Trump was President.

It is reflective of the oil bust in 2020 though.

What's that dark purple county in Middle Tennessee

Probably Davidson. Real estate has gone crazy here and people are moving to surrounding counties where real estate is more affordable.

Wonder why Nevada is so popular? It’s nothing but desert
1 family of 4 moving into those counties probably caused that county to light up green. I read on Freightwaves that Jean, NV is demolishing their old shitty casino on I-15 that's been closed since covid started and will be building an industrial park out there - one of my first reactions was wondering who in the hell is going to work there? Aside from the 15 senior citizens they had working in the casino and gas stations I didn't know they had enough people to fill that many jobs.

Rip Montana and Idaho.

Honestly, most of the folks I've met who have moved here recently (like me) are appreciative of local political leanings and customs. It's fricking the real estate market, though.

The two trends I see are the decline of cities due to remote working and George Soros DAs that are lenient on crime -> more scenic areas + plus the decline of the areas reliant on the American petroleum industry due to the pro-Putin policies of our potato retard President.

Cities proper are seeing some decline, but that is extremely misleading. Metro areas are booming.

Take Houston for example. Harris county (Houston proper) had a slight decline. All of the surrounding counties had extreme growth. No one is leaving metro Houston. Some inner city people are moving further out, and transplants from other places are moving into the metro area in droves, just not the city proper.

You can say this for just about every major city in the sunbelt.

That is part of it. But also most Millennials are now ready to start families, and they are doing the simple math that I did when I moved from Houston to the suburbs a decade ago. We could have afforded a home in some of the nice(ish) areas of the city, but the private school costs just made no sense for three kids when I could send them to good public schools 25 miles away. Plus the suburbs are set up for kids. They are safe with lots of programs geared towards kids.

You may be referring to Gen Z. There are several millennials 35-38 years old that have multiple kids already.

Agreed. I was one of the oldest Millennials, and I have 3. But the bulk of them are still in their prime child-bearing years. And the the type living in cities in their late 20s likely weren’t getting started till later anyway.

All the scenic places are getting filled and pricier before I can retire in 10-15 years.

Things tend to be cyclical. Plus, 10-15 years is a long ways away.

West Texas may be the most conservative part of the country. The deepest red. And I see a lot of purple on the migration map.

Maybe it doesn’t have as much to do with politics as we would like to think?

Actually no. Idaho has seen a massive swing to right leaning politicians recently. Most of the transplants to Idaho are conservatives fleeing the batshit insane statists in California.

I’m telling you guys this migration is people voting with their feet. We naturally assume the worst. 2022 will confirm this migration, the biggest since the California Gold Rush, is proof that Americans are more conservative as a country.

History repeats itself. Biden in Carter. Carter was hell. But it also ushered in Reagan. I’m hopeful that’s true
