What kind of share the wealth kind of crap is that?

we were young, hard working college kids, and most of us were friends away from the job and were always having afterwork after parties so everyone needed a little dough

besides, everyone pretty much did every job in the place, so if you got assigned a spot that didn't get tipped, like doorman or bouncer, instead of bartending you'd still get a little extra cash

used to stay in the same hotel in Vegas a lot for work, got to know a few of the cocktail waitresses/bartenders, when I'd check in and then come downstairs they'd tell me what machines were "hot" that night, damn straight I tipped them

ate at pretty fancy and pricey restaurant in France a couple of months back, we were being hosted by a lady that ran a winery for my wife's boss, she pulled a fast one and pre-arranged to have paid before the check was brought out, I tried to get her to let me get it, to no avail, I asked her if I could at least leave a gratuity, she said no, emphatically, said that was offensive to them, for some reason it implied that they weren't doing their jobs, that bill was close to $1500 for five of us

Especially when they charge 10% for using a CC

Please put this business on blast if they're charging 10%. I don't buy this but I do understand there are businesses that tack on an unnecessary CC charge fee.

What's ridiculous is that companies can deduct finance charges and credit card fees on their taxes. This is basically them double dipping and collecting an extra percentage on the customer.

I do tip the beer man at stadiums. Well worth it not to have to get out of my seat or stand in a long line.

Only stand up and order place I ever tip is the rare trip to Izzos. In my experience, they’re generous with the rice and meat and ingredients. I press the percentage button and I don’t miss the $1.50. Not sure they actually get the money though which sucks.

I think tipping is ridiculous in every scenario, to be honest. Tell me how much the service costs and I’ll choose to pay for it or not. It’s up to the person doing the job to decide if their wage is worth the workload. I shouldn’t have to feel responsible for making them feel as if they are properly compensated.

That said, since we have this culture now, I of course tip table service. However, it’s ridiculous that the size of the tip is based on the size of the bill. It takes the same amount of work to bring a $500 bottle of wine to the table as a $50 bottle. Why should the waiter bringing the pricier one be better compensated for doing the same work?

Went through a drive through coffee place this week for a medium black coffee. Order taker goes “I just need one more thing from you” and hands me a touchpad. It has “Would you like to tip your team members?”

I WAS GETTING A CUP OF DRIVE-THRU COFFEE

Last time I go there. This tip-everything shite has gotten out of hand.

Are they basing this off of people who go to the Bayou Classic, or eat at Red Lobster and Applebee's

They're basing it off of everywhere you go they spin the tablet around and it has the predetermined tip percentages already up and 0% isn't an option.

Is this just a social media thing?

Tipping isn't complicated. I tip when I feel like it. I have no problem hitting 'no tip' on a point of sale screen.

How do ya'll feel about tipping hunting guides or fishing guides?

I maybe get it if it's some dude working for a company.

But one fishing trip I went on it was the guy's company, and it was his boat, so he was getting all the money for the trip. Did he really need a tip on top of that? Tipped him anyway, but it seems a bit excessive.

Even attendants in the mens room? Shite, I'd tip the janitors at Buccees who clean the terlets between wicked dumps. Those definitely deserve a little bone thrown at them.
