For the right kid, it could be.

Not all kids are destined for an academic future past High School.

All kids are different from each other.

Don't generalize against those schools, you come off as shallow. Your comment about window stickers was petty and makes you seem jealous whether you are or not.

You sound really angry about paying thousands of dollars a semester for the same education someone can receive for free.

Again, education is specific to the individual.

No one (you and me included) can say that a specific school's education is better or worse than another school when the schools are as close in quality to each other as some of the public and private schools in St. Tammany.

It's not a money or a class thing, stop trying to make it into that, it shows you are sensitive to it.

Never said one school is better than the other educational wise, matter of fact, I said they were the SAME. But I mean if you wanna keep going back and forth about it and saying how "sensitive" and "shallow" I am because i said one option is better since it saves you some money. Go for it.

If you contend that the schools are the "SAME", you are wrong. They are not. No two schools can be the same.

They cannot be the same to individual students. Some individual kids will do better at a Mandeville High versus a SPS and other individual kids will do better in the reverse scenario.

Whether you acknowledge this fact or not, I don't care.

It's not about the money but you sure want to make it about the money.

There are a lot of loaded kids at mhs & fhs and middle class kids at SPS. It's definitely not (or at least shouldn't be) about money or class.

Maybe it shouldn't be but it has been since before I was alive and it shows no signs of changing.

As far as public schools I've heard in general Mandeville has the best, Madisonville is good but not as good, and Covington the worst of the three. But that's also me not knowing specifics

Do a little internet research for your school district. You'll find a list that ranks every school in the state. I did this before moving to Slidell and chose my district wisely. In my district, even the people in the most expensive neighborhoods ($500k - $1 mil houses) send their kids to public schools.

It's what's best for each individual child. My oldest is at Covington High because they have what he needs. We are in the process of looking for a house, but no matter where we move, he will stay there. My middle one is at Pitcher, which is much maligned. Unfairly. The only thing I can see about Pitcher is that there are some lower economic students. But both my oldest and middle child loved/love it there. And my little one is at Lake Harbor. Cannot say enough good about that school either. Each kid is in the best place for them. So, moved here 3 years ago for Covington HS and Pitcher, apparently.

OP, do what's best for your kids and don't worry about what other people think.

A lot of reasons why those schools are better than SSA.

There is a reason why the St Pauls students call it "Camp SSA" or at least everyone did 7-10 years go.

Sent my 2 to OLL for elementary. Waste of money. Sent daughter to MHS. She is a sophomore and loves the school. Very challenging and she is thriving as a student.

My son goes to Hannan. I am not wild about paying, but I would say that Hannan is a great fit for him. He is better off in a smaller classroom environment.

Different kids have different needs. That said, in my experience if your kid is well adjusted, go with the public schools that feed MHS or FHS. They offer way way way more that SPS, SSA, Northlake, Hannan, etc. can offer your kids in the way of class variety, AP classes and honors programs.

I would break it down for HS like this.
1. MHS
2. FHS

FYI - Covington High has a daycare for HS students with kids. That should tell you all you need to know. Stay away from Pitcher and Covington High.

If you want to be a cheap frick then go public but any answer other than private is incorrect. The Northshore schools have to deal with common core and common people. No matter what anyone says that is the truth.

Anyone who says says "stay away" from Pitcher does not know what the frick they are talking about. Great school with great teachers...

My two daughters went there and didn't miss a beat when I put them in Catholic high school.

If you are south of I-12 and not dead-set on Catholic school, the Madisonville/Mandeville schools are fantastic. All of mine have gone through the Madisonville schools, and the oldest is now at Mandeville High.
