Your actually right. I just talked to him. He said he would know about 6 hours before the general public but he's now hearing they will make a national announcement telling people they will need to shelter in place by a certain day.

Yep. Next thing these morons will say is we will shut down all the refiners and stop making gas. Imagine the panic if this would happen, it won’t.

You and your buddy are fricking morons. If that announcement is to be made it will come from the local level.

Stay home for two weeks and only go out if you have to (a couple times with gloves for food) should be curved in a couple weeks

So if we do this and it slows down for a while what do we do when it picks back up? Do we shut down the country every few months?

A two week shutdown is nonsense. It’s going to be 60 days at a minimum.

Also, to the people predicting mass chaos amongst complete martial law, my guess is before it got to that point, the government would probably say “frick it, let’s just go back to normal and let nature take its course”. Lesser of two evils.

ETA- the shutdown I’m referring to, that will happen in other US cities, is non essential businesses; what SF, Spain, France and Italy are doing.

I am not talking about a full scale shutdown including markets and other essential business. That’s not going to happen. It hasn’t happened anywhere.

It's going to be 0 days max.

This kind of fake news fear mongering is what's making everyone go crazy.

I hope you're right but would you have thought they would shut every bar and restaurant down for a month?

Bars and restaurants are optional. You start talking about shutting down grocery stores and gas stations for a month, then it's a completely different animal. And what about all the bills? Are all those companies going to take a month off too? I seriously doubt, nor would I expect it. It might ease the anxiety to say "SHUT IT ALL DOWN FOR A MONTH", but it is just not feasible.

Will not happen, but it doesn't stop idiots from flooding grocery stores thinking it will.

Why are so many people on this board praying for total anarchy?

The country is not going to be "shut down"

This statement that is so frequently used over the past two weeks in Covid-19 threads has lost all meaning. It’s already “real”. It’s been “real” for what now feel like an eternity.

If the National Guard came to my house and wrapped it in a big freaking rollmof Saran Wrap, it would fall short of being any “realer” than the events of the past 14 days.

Let’s stop fear mongering and actually wait for the actual announcements that are critical to this situation. Rather than regurgitated rumors from “military buddies” and Facebook.
