Amache national historic site formally established as America's newest national park
Internment camps are an important part of American history that needed to be preserved. Statues must not qualify.

The Interior Department has the tremendous honor of stewarding America’s public lands and natural and cultural resources to tell a complete and honest story of our nation’s history,” said Secretary Haaland, who visited the Amache site in February 2022. “Today’s establishment of the Amache National Historic Site will help preserve and honor this important and painful chapter in our nation’s story for future generations.”

I had that problem. Where exactly are you hanging them? My fascia boards have a "lip" on them and I found that these clips are awesome. Will not fall down and I leave them attached to my lights year to year (going on 4 or 5 with the same clips) I can line my roof in like 20 mins. deck/fascia clips
CD vs Vanguard Federal Money Market Fund (VMFXX) vs T - bills
Posted by Gator feather on 10/2/23 at 9:44 am
What would the be advantages of cds or tbills over VMFXX in taxable account for modest rainy day fund? Vmfxx has a 5.3% 7 day sec yield (been similar for a while now). I feel like those rates are similar or better than the ither options and Vmfxx would be more liquid?
My understanding is a large portion of VMFXX's holdings would be tbills and other secure government debt.
I guess with cds and t bills you give up a little liquidity for guaranteed/stable returns?

Michael Jordan would have qualified as overweight/obese for example. The BMI chart uses raw numbers as they relate to height and weight
Jordan was listed as 6ft 6 inches and had a playing weight of 215. That puts his BMI at 24.8. That is the upper end of normal but definitely not "overweight/obese". NIH BMI calculator .

TRSL webite has lots of information that is easy to understand.
I assume your wife works for a elementary/secondary school system. If so I believe the regular pension is the only option available (not counting "in addition" options such as deferred comp 403(b)?). if she is part of higher education they offer a trsl optional plan that functions like a defined contribution (401k) plan in lieu of defined benefit plan. It is meant to be more portal for employees who dont plan on staying in state.
That is pretty much all I know. enjoy the subsidized health insurance and pension (assuming she sticks it out 20+ years)

Roth IRA Contributions
Posted by Gator feather on 6/19/19 at 9:23 am
hello everyone, I have searched but havent found an answer to my question so I thought I would ask here.
I know contributions to a roth IRA can generally be withdrawn without penalties or tax. My question is does this apply only to the annual $6,000 regular contributions? what about a 401k rollover or Traditional IRA conversations? would the entire 401k or TIRA balance at the time of conversion be considered contributions that could later be withdrawn tax and penalty free? Just to clarify I'm talking about early withdrawal (before 59.5). Also Im not considering raiding my 401k/ira just like knowing all my options. thanks

re: Lawn Burweed in grass
Posted by Gator feather on 4/24/19 at 4:15 pm to tigerweb
I usually only use it in the spring to clean up anything in my carpetgrass that my pre emergent (prodiamine) didn't catch. The lable on msmturf says not to use in temperatures above 85 degrees or damage to the grass can occur. My front yard is st Augustine so i will use Celsius on it once temperatures get high but it cant be used on carpetgrass.

It isnt on the label but I used msmturf (Metsulfuron Methyl) this year on burweed in my carpetgrass and it absolutely smoked it. It was slow to show results but after about 2 weeks it was completely brown and dead. I applied the last week of March and think I got most of it before it formed the seeds (stickers).
The good thing with msmturf is that a little bit goes a long way and its cheap. I think I applied at .75oz/acre for the burweed and it cleaned up most of the other broadleaf weeds as well.

re: Zoysia in BR. May I have a look see?
Posted by Gator feather on 7/20/18 at 9:47 am to Jester
It is my understanding that zoysia is slow to grow from seed and overseeding is usually not successful. I don't know about sod producers in Baton Rouge but Quality Sod's website lists Emerald zoysia on their website.

When I built my house I sodded with St augustine (palmetto). St Aug is what I've always had so I went with it. Fast forward several years if I could do it again I'd go Empire zoysia.
