Authorities say the 35-year-old started the abuse in Georgia when Sophie was as young as 8 years old and it continued for years until she became pregnant while living in Indiana with her mom and the attacker.

During a criminal investigation into suspected molestation of the child in Georgia, Sophie’s mother agreed to a so-called "safety plan" which was supposed to prevent Thrash from having future contact with Sophie.

However, the woman admitted in court that she moved to Indiana with Thrash and continued to live with him along with the child.

Thrash was arrested by police in Indiana in May 2017, after authorities discovered the girl was pregnant. She was just 10 at the time.

Her mother was also arrested in connection to the crimes. Prosecutors say she knew the abuse was happening but did nothing to protect her child or remove her from the situation.

Sophie and her child were placed in foster care after the arrests.

She was separated from her newborn when she was sent to the mental health facility late last year, shortly after both her mother and Thrash were sentenced.

Meanwhile, her attacker, who is now serving a 160-year prison sentence, has filed an appeal to the Indiana State Supreme Court challenging his conviction.

In his brief to the court, Thrash says, he’s appealing on multiple grounds. He believes the length of his sentence is not inappropriate, the trial court improperly admitted evidence showing Sophie and the newborn baby at the hospital, and he was improperly removed from the courtroom following several outbursts alleging the child he impregnated was promiscuous during his trial.

So those people against abortion think it’s ok for the state to force a child to give birth if she didn’t want to have it?

I agree with him. A 160 year sentence is stupid. He shouldn’t serve jail time any longer than it takes to either gather a firing squad, tie a noose, or power up an electric chair.

The death penalty is too good for this guy. A slow painful death would be much more human for humanity.

So those people who support abortion think it’s OK for the state to allow an unborn child to die just because it’s father was a POS rapist?

The mother is just as guilty as the guy in this situation. I don’t have kids yet but just from seeing with my parents, if you truly love your kids you will do ANYTHING to protect them in a situation like that.

The 10 year old is an innocent victim. But so is the unborn child. Why should it be given a death sentence for a crime it didn’t commit?

Having a full term pregnancy would be a death sentence for many 10 year old girls.

Their bodies are not capable of the physical changes.

So you would be entirely ok if a man raped your 10 year old daughter and she was crying not to have a baby...you would force her to go through with it?

You would force her to endure a pregnancy against her will since she was impregnated against her will?

I’m only for abortions in a case such as rape. In this case, if she has that baby it could very well kill the 10 year old during the birthing process, if not just during pregnancy. I understand that it’s taking an innocent life, but you could be taking two lives if they don’t abort the child. And if the child is born, it will just go back into an adoption clinic of some sort, not having the best quality of life. It’s putting a baby in the hands of a 10 year old to take care of when she had already been raped before that. Very difficult situation to assess

If the life of the mother in truly in danger, then the pregnancy should be terminated. But, rape or incest by themselves are not justification for an abortion.

Contrary what some feel from an emotional standpoint, an unborn fetus is a human. And as a human they have certain inalienable rights, chief among them are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And we cannot punish them for the sins of their father.

That’s the reason I oppose abortion other than risk of death for the mother. Science tells us that an unborn fetus is still human. Abortion supporters can lie and say it’s not. But science says it is a human.

If the "mother" is a fricking 10 year old rape victim, than yes. What if it was your daughter? You're going to ask your 10 year old to go through a pregnancy and childbirth?
