I think it was the dog that had cancer.

The guy that punched the kangaroo was supposedly there on some wild boar hunt as a dying wish. He has some rare form of cancer.

The original video that was posted on YouTube had it in it's description. In the description it mentioned that he had a terminal diagnosis.
The video was filmed back in June but is states he passed away December 2nd.
