Headline says the man was pulled from the car and arrested after telling the cop he was being recorded. That is true.

Hard to do that when the cockbag driver is being hostile and uncooperative.

Of course, to you fedoras, cops are never right.

no. Instead of getting in a shouting match, let the man finish, then tell him to exit the vehicle. It's basic conflict resolution type stuff. Instead of ESCALATING the situation, wait 2 minutes and DEescalte.

thats a stretch. There are a multitude of ways this could have gone down that never included violence. if the kid wanted to do his little speech, let him. Whats the cost, 2 minutes?

who cares.

The new thing seems to be "I am recording you"

which leads to:

Endless questioning of the officer

that usually ends badly for both parties.

Let the officer lead the conversation is my advice.

The cope went over the line but the kid kept trying to dominate the way the deal was going to go

And so it went badly.

What did you learn from this video that you didn't already know?

Even harder for the cop to write a ticket without the license of the driver.

Interesting.

I can't dig in now because I have things I need to do, but I suspect they these are not inclusive statistics. They may be excluding a particular type of LEO that my information isn't.

My source:

One thing in your link I found interesting though:

The rate of officer assaults in 2011 was 10.2 per 100 sworn officers

nothing sadly. I saw the video and thought it would spur discussion to make my day here at the office go faster.

Mission accomplished.

The driver did an effective job of documenting evidence that could reasonably be interpreted in a way that the stop would have been considered illegal. However, you only ever win that argument with a judge , not with a cop at the scene. He should have continued recording while complying with the officers requests.

The driver should have been more cooperative yes, but so should the cop.

He didn't do anything to deescalate the situation. Officers are supposed to be professional and courteous. Protect and Serve.

Courtesy, Loyalty, Service.

Touching a police officer is assault and these frickers make shite up mercilessly so that ten percent assault rate is undoubtedly inflated for shock value.

Eta, read your reuters link. It includes traffic fatalities with deaths by assault so the numbers are pretty similar.

Son of a bitch...some of you are idiots and morons and are typical for some of the major issues that plague this country.

The fat black guy dying after a chokehold? Yeah, that's one to be pissed about. That's what we need to focus on.

This video is just a bunch of ticky tack bullshite that is going to hinder cops - the good ones - from doing their job.

The driver was a being a punk bitch. The cop asked for license and registration, which is what he is supposed to do after pulling someone over. He pulled him over for running a stop sign. He doesn't have to prove it to the driver at that time. If the driver wants to challenge it in court, then that's when the police department will need to provide some kind of proof and a certified officer's testimony is usually enough to warrant the ticket.

What the drive did was stall and badger the cop. The cop never "added on" a speeding clause. He said that he was ALSO speeding. If I had to assume, I'd say that the cop was going to give the guy a citation for running the stop sign and ignore the cracked windshield and speeding ticket. But the driver acting like a douche made the cop go ahead and tack on all three.

When the driver hindered the officer from doing his job, the officer decided to have the driver step out of the car. The driver then stated that he does not have to step out of the car. Uhh, yeah you do if the officer who has pulled you over asks you to especially after starting a confrontation.

Now a bunch of idiots will jump up and down and scream police brutality and diminish the trust average citizens have in good police officers. Way to go.

And that my friends is the lesson for all citizens with a phone in "Record mode".

I tried to question a cop about my speed back in 1989....he went poorly...

I was going over..end of story.

He was white, I am white...

bottom line, people enforcing the law don't like to be questioned right off the bat. Let them lead...

What?

Did I watch the same video as you?

Let the man finish what exactly? Youtube posturing?

Because it certainly wasn't finish speaking.

"Get out of the car."

No.

"Get out of the car."

Sir, I do not have to step out of the vehicle.

"Yes, you do"

No, I do not.

And that is when the door opens.

If he wanted to say something else, he could have.....while complying with the cop's legal request.

And:

Instead of getting in a shouting match, let the man finish

This statement equally applies to the other guy.

He kept trying to talk over the cop's requests, the the only time he responded to his requests was to say that he wasn't going to do it.

I've never understood why this is so hard to understand. It's like people believe the cop was going to be like, "yeah you're right young man...my apologies. Carry on" or something

Only think missing from this video is him yelling "Worle-stah" as he gets dragged from his car.
