From what I understand about part of the story was that one of his charges was vehicle trespass. He opened the door to the vehicle to gain access. The other charge was disorderly conduct I believe.
i think that the vehicle trespass charge would be the main one they could get him on.
There are Good Samaritan laws that exist to protect people from being charged or held liable for entering a vehicle in emergency circumstances to render aid. They key part is that the person would have to be attempting to render aid which he was not.

Guy seems trashy. I think the only way I would move an accident victim is if the car was on fire.

If this is the same case I am thinking of, the guy impeded the responders too while he was trying to film. He then went to the family of the dead kid or the other kid and tried to get them to sign a waiver for his right to film the accident in exchange for his testimony that something happened to cause the accident and the family told him to frick off.

No, dumb arse. Where'd you get this? Did you even read the article? Guy arrives on scene before first responders, gets out of his car, pulls out his cell phone and starts filming an accident as someone is dying in front of him. He then trespasses into the car while calling them "idiots" and does not offer any assistance. He then tried to sell the video to two news stations.
At no point was he legally compelled to render first aid and that's not why he's going to jail.

No we are expected not to get in the way of first responders, increasing the risk to other people being seriously harmed. There's also a little thing called common human decency. Get the frick out of here with that shite.

I did read the article. He was jailed because the judge was offended at what he did, that is why the judge wished he could have sentenced him for a longer period.
If he had gotten in the way of emergency personnel you would think he could be charged with much more. However, he is charged with something that would not be criminal had he done it for another reason.
The guy is a jerk, and were that my kids in the car, he would likely have more to worry about than 30 days in jail.

As said above, you aren't.
However, if you don't help then you shouldn't have your slimeball arse inside of the car taking a video.
That being said, the article and the story have been sensationalized for viewers with the insinuation that he was arrested/jailed for failing to help when in was actually disorderly conduct and vehicle trespassing.
