If I have to parallel park, I have to make sure its an area where I can let my ramp down so I have parked in some pretty tight spots and its always not the prettiest parking job... Maybe this guy has a gift, but it would be really hard to park that perfect.

Decades ago, on a busy Saturday night in the French Quarter, I found an rare empty spot, a half-block off Bourbon St, that would barely fit my Toyota Celica with about 4 inches to spare on each side.

After I paralleled it in with no wasted steering, a group of about 6 strangers/tourists (?) who stopped to watch literally gave me an ovation when I got out. What made it cooler was I was on a first date.

Honestly, no. But it was the start of a 3 year relationship.

I have no idea why people would be mad about this. I understand why people wouldn't belive it, though. Look at that shite. It's beautiful. I choose to belive fairy tales that have no consequence. This is one. There's almost no chance this is real, but I choose to belive. Parallel parking is a beautiful art. I used to have the eye until I moved to the burbs.

Man makes up story to get attention, then pretends to get pissy to get more attention.

Never lived in the city where people park that close.

If you park that close to another people's vehicle, is there an expectation that they don't touch your vehicle if they leave before you?

Just seems like your asking for the driver of the van to crack your headlights when they try to get out.

Unless I see it on video, I'll believe that person was blocked in.

Honestly, I’ve seen it done. The guy got out of his car and said “that’s why they’re called bumpers.” Then, walked away.

I’ve lived in the burbs all my life, never worked downtown, probably average a half dozen parallels per year, but I’ve always had the knack and still do. I can put my car into impressive tight spots with little or no wasted maneuvers. But I would not attempt the spot in the OP. It’s a little bigger than it looks, due to camera angle, but it’s still too tight. I need about three feet longer than the car.

I was at the Iron Bowl back in the 80’s and rode with a friend and his dad. When we left the game his truck was blocked in like that. The dad was telling some story as we go into his truck and put his truck in 4 wheel drive and proceeded to push the car in front then backed up and pushed the truck behind him clearing enough room to get out. The whole time he was doing this he never stopped telling the story and acted like this was just a normal situation. ??
