I go out of town for a day and miss this goldmine.
As much as you'd like, kicking his arse is going to get you arrested and sued.
I'm taking the high road and assuming your marriage is strong. That said, this is your wife's issue to deal with.
It sounds like she is embarrassed that she got hit on without realizing it and allowed this creep to text her what he did. That's most likely why she wants to drop it. That's probably the best approach and he should get the hint when she doesn't reply back.
If you want to force the issue, she needs to reply back, with you copied on the text, that his comment was completely inappropriate.

Frick that dude! I'm sure he's not just hitting on your wife at the pool. Id post the text messages, on the neighborhood FB page. I'd bet you'd find out this is his MO, and others are not happy. I'm also sure is wife wouldn't be pleased.
