No that would be silly. Was just a thought experiment.

97,568 public schools
There are 97,568 public schools in the United States as of 2021, and the number can only grow as each school expects a large number of enrollees per academic year.

The number of schools where shootings have occurred is a fractional amount of the total number of schools in this country. Chances of a school shooting are extremely low.

Nah. I'd rather live in a more dangerous country than give up 2A rights.

He's saying the opposite of what you're implying.

Most countries have the same rate of mental health issues as we do.

That’s a gratuitous statement. Countries have very different levels of mental health, and they differ greatly in how they treat it.

It's too late for that solution. If guns were banned tomorrow, it would take 100 years or more to round up all firearms in this country. Then people would start finding all the lost guns at the bottom of lakes and rivers

We have more guns than people in the US. And the government doesn't know who owns what. My FIL left me all of his guns in his will. There's no way to trace that and I'm not advocating that there should be.

you guys do realize that when the 2A was written, people were using muskets for frick's sake? Obama ain't coming for your guns. Let's just make it a tad more difficult for psychos to get their hands on an AR. Like 77% of the country wants anyway.

Why are there more mass shootings even though we have made it harder to get guns than let’s say, the 1950’s? Are there really more mass shootings now?

Two questions that should start any conversations on this subject

Seppuku. Honor suicide culture instead of taking others with you to become internet famous.

There's a lot of truth in this. Our culture glorifies victimhood, and deflects personal responsibility, so we have a bunch of angry psychos walking around who feel justified in causing harm to others before themselves.

The guy in Maine was a firearms instructor, former military and went nuts. I assume that he was at some point not crazy.

I'd also assume that given his background, he'd have had access to whatever firearms civilians can obtain and went nuts later on.

How does a law stop this outside of an outright ban? Even then, you are talking about 3% of gun deaths from rifles and you have 10s of millions in civilian hands already.

Inconceivable.

This is a really uncomfortable thing for some people, but the 2A exists so that you can shoot back at the government.

Hypothetically (and I’m a big proponent of the 2A), would you advocate to give up some rights if it meant a school shooter couldn’t get access to a weapon to enter your child’s school? Hypothetically

Hypothetically, anything can happen so why would you even hypothetical.
