My Aunt was a State Social Worker assigned the 9th Ward back in the 70's. She carried a loaded .357 snub nose in her purse at all times, on every visit to her clientele. Aunt freely admitted she did so in spite of all her clients and their neighbors swearing to love her to death.
Probably took the "to death" part seriously, as she should.
