Do casinos with varying min bets on roulette not have dollar values on colored chips? News to me.

How do you ensure you get the same color chips? "Can I please have the pink ones?"

I've drunkenly walked away from a Roulette table with those chips and hoo boy do they not like that.

The plot is what’s known as a “color-up” scam. In live roulette games, players do not normally use standard casino chips to play; with so many players at a table and so many possible bets, it would become impossible to keep track of which bets belong to which players. Instead, each player is given chips of a unique color, with the denomination of those chips being determined when the player buys them.
The color-up scheme attempts to take advantage of this by having a player buy chips at the $1 level. They will play for a short while, and then cash out. However, they’ll discretely hold on to some of their roulette chips – chips which are meant to never leave the roulette table – and take them to another area of the casino, such as the bathroom.
Since there are no surveillance cameras in bathroom areas in a casino, the original player can then pass off the roulette chips to a partner, who will then take them back to the roulette table. There, they’ll buy chips at a higher denomination – perhaps $25 – and then arrange to get the same color previously used by the partner. After playing for a few minutes, they’ll cash out the chips gained from their partner, allowing chips purchased for $1 to be redeemed for $25 each. Using large teams, the scam can be performed even more easily, as the players involved can be sure that one group buys cheap chips of several colors, and then a second group will be sure to get those colors when they later visit the table.

If that happened then the dealer did not handle the transaction correctly. There is no way that the scenario above could happen unless the dealer was part of the scam. Believe me, I was working at Casino Rouge back in 1997 when they busted a craps table on the Texas deck (bottom deck). They cruised out in the river, made the bust so nobody could get off. there where dealers involved in this scam.

That is different. The dealer has already accounted for that money. Their bank has to add up to what they started with. ALWAYS. I guarantee they will look at the tapes to find out if there is any collusion.

They had a inside job setup allowing late bets at the roulette table at the one in LC not too long ago too.

In roulette, the chips don't have a denomination. They have a color which identifies the player. The value of the chips is set at the beginning when you buy into the game. If you buy in for $100 and get 20 chips, they'll be $5 bets. If you buy in for $100 and get 10, they'll be $10 bets. The dealers are supposed to keep track of what each player's bet level is during their session by marking the stack of chips still in his bank to show how much that color is worth.

If you can get the chips away from the table and hand them off to someone who then buys in later under the same color, they can sneak the chips into their playing stack after buying in at a much higher price per chip than they were originally bought for. This is why casinos really don't like it when a player leaves the table with roulette chips. I think some casinos even have a policy that if you return to a table with a roulette chip and try to cash it in, they'll only give you the minimum value that the chip can have, no matter how large of a bet it represented when you bought in.

If you mean normal, non-roullette specific chips, that is perfectly acceptable.
