Arrested and found guilty? Merely being arrested doesn't make somebody a criminal.
This is true. I knew a guy who got arrested twice on serious charges and found not guilty on both counts.
Didn't see him for a couple decades and ran into him one day and he was sporting a local Deputy uniform, complete with sidearm, taser, club, ammo and radio.
Truth is, I knew in my heart he was guilty of the most serious charge, but the DA never had the goods on him to get a conviction.
Once found not guilty, it was like "it never happened" in the eyes of the law.

BRPD policy stipulates that an academy applicant is disqualified if the “applicant has been arrested for a felony or misdemeanor (expunged arrests still apply).”
Not sure it applies in this case but this policy is bullshite. If police arrest an innocent person and that person is never convicted of the crime because they are innocent, they can’t apply to the police force?

Top notch police work there.

Just what we need, a cop that can’t control his own firearm

You act like hiring thugs to do policing is something new.
I wonder why.....

Expecting MP to follow his own rules on accepting police academy applicants is racist?

There's plenty of situations where someone can be wrongfully arrested, and it gets cleared. Not saying this is the same scenario, but as mentioned, an arrest does not mean guilty.
Sure, an arrest doesn’t mean guilty. But it does mean suspicion of guilt. You don’t get arrested for no reason. He shot her in the back. He’s at least an idiot doing things he should not be doing, which resulted in the death of a woman. Having that arrest on his record is evidence enough that he would likely cause a problem on the police force, and therefore should not be hired or trained

"Racist"....why would you say that?

Because the argument here is that people are only complaining about thuggish individuals being allowed into the police academy right now.
Couldn’t possibly be because this particular chief has a number of lawsuits going in which his officers were beating individuals and having it covered up by the department.

Dude doesn’t have a right to be hired by BRPD. They’re allowed to set standards.

“BRPD” and “standards” don’t really belong in the same conversation these days.
Pretty sure they started taking any warm body walking through the door when police academy applications bottomed out after the Sterling case.

Correct! Nor have they ever, in all of time.
It's refreshing to see OT posters concerned about issues with bad policing. Definitely not like the old days! Maybe I'll dig up some old posts from back in the day to share if I get the time.
Good to see y'all taking up the yoke of social justice! Keep up the good work!

Yep. And there’s the problem.
The standards exist; they’re just not being enforced.
Now that there’s some shine on this guy, it’ll be interesting to see if the academy dismisses him.

Did the standards not exist before, and therefore then it was OK for cops to be thugs who beat people for fun?
Or were these standards always on the books?
Just asking. I really don't know.

White Supremacy and White Privilege strike again. How does this keep happening? Only in a Red state could this be applauded.
