Mamou attorney permanently disbarred - many offenses - why no criminal charges?

OT attorneys, Mr Fontenot appears to be a real turd. Multiple offenses over many years including things that would get John Q Citizen arrested and charged.
I see the 'allegedly' qualifier used throughout the story so do I presume bar association took action but no criminal investigation was undertaken?

How do you know there is no criminal referral to the DA?

Why prosecute, just an attorney doing attorney things.

ONE
lawyers write the laws, so they more often than not build in loopholes Esp for crimes committed by lawyers
B
often these things are settled when restitution is repaid
and as part of that no criminal charges if they give up law license
and yes finally charges may still be pending

The forgeries and subsequent theft charge was in 2015. Isn't reasonable to assume criminal charges would have been filed by now?

Dang. I've lived in Evangeline Parish for a good part of my life and I have never heard of this guy.
I've know several Fontenot's who are lawyers, but never heard of him.

I googled this guy and contacted some friends. Come to find out, he and his ex-wife have always been some shady characters. Can't divulge any details, but suffice it to say karma finally caught up with him.

If he’s guilty of half of that he should be in Angola.
