According to a certain other thread currently on the first page of this board, 16 areas of tornado damage in one NWS office’s coverage area isn’t enough. Total nothingburger. Who cares about the death and destruction that happened yesterday?
One idiot over in that thread said that there were “no alerts” in places like Arkansas and Missouri on Friday night.

Unreal. And Paragould has had two house-leveling tornados in less than a ten-month frame. Please tell me how this isn't a result of a rapidly changing climate

This one is probably a better candidate for actually getting the bump to EF5 than the Mayfield tornado was. The survey will continue, and the engineers (probably Tim Marshall) will dive into the fine details. There was at least one "well-built" home swept from an anchored foundation. The reasoning for Mayfield not being upgraded to a 5 was the complete lack of well-built structures. Though Tim Marshall and others who were involved have said it was likely an EF5, they just couldn't find the clear indicators for the upgrade.
To me, Mayfield was an EF5.

Those drillbit type tornadoes are likely stronger and more violent than the wedges that get all the attention. All that power is concentrated in a much smaller area.
