Looks like a new one between Guthrie and Meridian on radar.

List of shelters in Tuscaloosa County. (From EMA).

https://www.tuscaloosacountyema.org/storm-shelters

Many are shown as closed but they should open when a tornado watch is issued.

This paragraph from NWS Birmingham’s afternoon forecast discussion is concerning. Of course, pretty much every piece of data regarding this event is concerning.

Watching David Chandley here in Atlanta. I am still in Zone 3 but the border for Level 4 is about 10 miles to the West.

Here's from about an hour ago from the Southeast Louisiana Extreme Weather Facebook page while sharing the 2:45 PM update from NWS New Orleans

quote:

Friday 3:05pm update,
Here's the latest update from the National Weather Service in Slidell.
I also want to add something to this.. You all know I don't hype unless it's absolutely necessary and with high confidence concerning a Severe outbreak and now I'm going to go out on a limb and just say this; If you live in a Mobile Home or camper, GET OUT!!! Get up early tomorrow morning and find somewhere to go and park it until this event is over tomorrow afternoon. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see the High Risk hatched for tomorrow get extended further to the Southwest.
Regardless if anything happens or not, the conditions tomorrow will be just too damned dangerous to be complacent and stupid.
Get somewhere safe and hunker down tomorrow.
I'll be live throughout the duration of the event.. as usual..
Let's all act responsibly and be SAFE!!!
-Joe.

This may seem like a dumb question, but in all 40 years of flying, I’ve never dealt with weather besides an hour or so delay here and there.

How do the airlines handle severe weather events like this? Can we get a refund?

Tomm we are supposed to fly out of NOLA around 10:30am to ATL then around 2 pm fly to Cincinnati, OH from ATL. This is the flight path

it definitely will not be that path - most times they will fly East to say Mobile and Pcola, then bank towards Atlanta.

they are not going to jeopardize folks - they either delay or fly around
