I guess. But you do realize that if someone were to ever attack our infrastructures here, shite would hit the fan pretty quickly, right?
It is said that civilization breaks down in 72 hours. I have seen it almost first hand and it took less than 48. In 2014 we moved to SE New Mexico and in December of 2015 we had a record snow fall...about 24-30 inches depending on where you were. There is one US highway in and out of this town. Other than trains and planes that is the only way to get shite in and out. Within 24 hours or the first few flecks the 2 grocery stores in town were almost devoid of anything. Within 36 hours people were getting very frustrated. In 48 hours they started shooting one another and fighting....luckily somewhere around 50 hours WalMart managed to get a couple of trucks to town and things got back more or less than normal.
This was in a town of 20,000 permanent residents and another 80K temporary oil field hands so the place was already stretched to about the breaking point but had it gone on much longer there is no telling how many people would have been killed. As it was several were shot and a couple died.

We'd be inconvenienced for a few weeks while another countries citizens would die by the millions in a nuclear holocaust.
A large portion of this country would experience complete societal deterioration with 5 days without electricity. If the entire country is without power, meaning no emergency response support/infrastructure, a lot of people, particularly those in the cities and suburbs, would lose their shite and become hyper aggressive.

Do you think this was because of Trump’s tariffs?
Not sure about that, but this will definitely be Trump’s fault, CNN and MSNDC will tell you all day. And 1/2 the country is so naive and frankly stupid, tbey’ll believe it.

Yeah, no, that happens and we got nukes for everybody. China ain't taking the west coast unless we've killed enough of those slanty eyed bastards to build a land bridge across the pacific.
And LOL at Mexico taking Texas back.

Reading BBC and EuroNews reports, a lot of people are stuck on the electric trains/metros on the tracks and millions more now cannot travel/move outside of where they can walk.
I know this is an event that has an extremely low chance of happening, but this type of situation is why i am not sure that I will ever not own an ICE vehicle

Major disadvantage for relying on public transportation.

I didn’t think the poster you’re replying too was thinking of the military aspect of the book, but rather the societal breakdown in the non-invaded parts of the US

What happens when the gas stations run out of gas?

It’s going to suck majorly and many, many people will now be stuck again.
Seeing as I live in south Louisiana and have a gas powered generator for hurricanes and routine power outages, I have 50-60 gallons of stabilized gasoline at all times.
50-60 gallons can get me almost 1,000 miles on the highway. Yes, eventually I’ll run out and will be in a similar, if not identical situation to those relying on EV’a or public transportation, but I will buy myself a week or more.

Italian power company estimates service should resume in mid-2028
Nah it will be sooner than that. LADOTD doesn't handle the powerline maintenance.

This.
Whenever we have a massive natural disaster here in the USA, you see “the cavalry” (utility workers) arriving within days.
If the whole country gets hit, there aint going to be any cavalry arriving.

The worst thing about this situation would be cleaning your rifle at the end of every day.

Entergy is already trying to figure how they can plug this into another rate increase.

If power is out, the gas station pumps will be down.
