re: Major overreaction by the government

You guys didn't get the contract that guaranteed no hardship in your time on this earth?
This is a serious public health threat. Combatting is going to require sacrifice. You think people wanted to ration during WWII? You think anyone wanted to storm the beaches at Normandy?
The impact is much greater than just the people who fall ill. Hospitals will become overwhelmed. What do you think is going to happen to all of the other regular patients during that time? Who gets the ICU bed? Who's going to care for the patients when the doctors and nurses are dropping from COVID?

This is an insane overreaction. I cannot believe government is telling business when they can be open etc... This sounds bad but the economic impact of this will far far far outweigh the death toll of the virus. This is going to ruin people’s lives.
If anything good comes from this it’ll be cutting our ties with China and curtailing globalism. frick China.
All politically driven. There is a bigger threat out there. And most of us do not know what or why. The government is NOT concerned with your or me.

Yeah and people should have been staying home if sick, washing their hands, etc. already.

When your dear leader agrees with the measures then perhaps it is you who are in the wrong? Well, no perhaps about it.

And from a statistical point of view it will remain minuscule compared to other major forms of death in this country. But never let statistics get in the way of a good fear mongering.
That’s such an ignorant point, I can’t even believe any normal mind made it.
I mean, are you joking or trolling?

If you don't think both sides are jockeying for position on this you are too dumb to vote.
IMO frick 'em all and I don't care who gets credit if it fizzles out.

The federal government is trying to prevent what’s happening in Italy currently. Collapse might be a little strong but it’s pretty damn close

We have to have an "overreaction" now because of Trump's under reaction when the first case was reported here in January acting like it wasn't big deal.

And i'll make sure to remind of this when your brother/sister loses their job and can't pay their bills. Hope it was worth the extra fear mongering you made.
You're a poliboard staple. It's no secret that you're one of the biggest Trump supporters on the OT. You aren't pissed about the government taking action, you're pissed your boy fricked this up from the jump, was unable to calm the markets (the ONLY thing this POTUS had going for him), and it's going to lead to him being a one term president. For this reason, your platitudes of overreaction are worth less than a grain of salt.
RE: Bankruptcies, etc. The Fed lowered the interest rate to 0. The SBA is likely to do the same, allowing small business owners to borrow at 0% interest. Congress is working on bills that will likely provide paid sick leave, boost unemployment and SNAP, offer mortgage and rent relief, disallowing utilities from cutting off customers for unpaid bills, and I would be shocked if we don't see BOTH a payroll tax suspension coupled with direct payments to citizens (I've heard $1k/adult and $500/kid). This is all just federal....states will be offering assistance, as well.
It's a shitty situation. People will die. People will lose their jobs. People will lose their businesses. Retirement accounts will be wrecked. Best thing we can do is play nice and do what our elected leaders and experts ask us to do to minimize these impacts and get past them as soon as possible.
