"Defund," doesn't mean "bankrupt." It means, taking that ~30% and making it ~20%.
You could easily do this in a number of areas, even without reducing salary, pension, or benefits. First, I would start with police vehicles. Why in the hell does every state trooper south in Georgia drive a fully loaded Tahoe?

It isn't even just in bigger cities, it is everywhere. Over the past couple of decades, mental health treatment has been slashed from nearly all budgets. State run hospitals were defunded and ultimately closed. That has placed the responsibility for mental healthcare on local police jurisdiction that are already short staffed and underfunded. For as much money that is spent on big city Police, there is a shortage of funds for smaller jurisdictions. Those police and sheriff departments don't have the training, time, or funds to manage the many cases of mental patients they now have. We end up with someone who needs legit help being jailed for months while they wait for a bed to come open at one of the few privately operated mental facilities.

we aren't going to see any money in return, or any taxes reduced. They are still going to get all of our money, and it's going to be wasted on bullshite community outreach. Or more Coroner's to identify all the bodies.

There is a lot of rhetoric about this on both sides. In reality "Defund the Police" won't mean eliminating police forces. It will mean, for example, having counselors on staff to respond to situations where the person is having a mental health episode. The police will still be needed in these situations for the protection of the counselors so I expect budgets to increase to pay for these additional counselors.
But assuming you are correct and forces will be eliminated, your math doesn't include county (parish) expenses covered by property taxes. Also, school taxes are the biggest item for my city, Dallas. This is true for all big texas cities. So your assumption of a 50% reduction in police expenditures does not result in a 15% tax reduction. By my math using Dallas tax rates, it looks like a %3.6 reduction.

The NYPD budget is double what it is listed there. They spend over $5 billion annually in fringe benefits, pensions, and debt alone.

People of color, including young children, are getting slaughtered all across this country and liberals are still singing Kumbah ya and asking for social programs over armed policing.
These people just get cant get out of their own way.

New York is roughly twice the size of LA, yet their general fund expenditure (I assume this is synonymous with annual budget) is more than 10x as much!?
