It almost seems like A Battery(where the Braves play) but on a much larger scale.
Do you mean in cost? In size, The Battery is 54 acres not including Truist Park and this project is only 14 acres.

So dumb. It literally connects 75 and 85 together. The. It connects with 20 right after a big curve (Grady Curve) in the middle of downtown with shitty on and off ramps. It’s truly a brilliant design /s. And I’m sure these morons will nail this grand utopian vision to make it even worse.

True It is smaller. I can't read.

The Big Dig in Boston sort of looks good doesn't it?
But, shite it cost way way more than they ever anticipated
While a project like the proposed one in Atlanta will no doubt be more expensive than planned, the Big Dig had a lot of work around and under the harbor that was crazy expensive. This Atlanta project has no such issue.
This is a good thing for Atlanta.

Ambitious to say the least but I don't have a problem w/this, it might be a prototype for other cities if we can pull this off.
I’m sure you don’t since the money for this boondoggle is coming from our hard earned federal tax dollars—and trillions of borrowed debt. It’s a clear waste of precious public funds.

There is a narrative to any developments project in any city that is bullshite.

This is a tremendous waste of money. They should spend that money trying to fix current traffic problems. This is “community planning” bs and I’m sure there will be homeless set up on this thing within a day after construction.

People don’t care. That’s why crooked politicians keep raising the dept limit. They can always count on an ignorant majority.

Liked widening roads that’ll just fill up in 3 years?

does anyone remember a few years ago when a section of 85/75 was so damaged by a fire underneath that it fell in…
Because GDOT was stupid enough to store HDPE conduit under the freeway and didn’t keep out homeless crackheads from taking up residence down there?

And now the collective intelligence of the GDOT has improved so they will not make another mistake like this…….?

Why is the federal government taking on the brunt of the cost for what should be a local project. Maybe even a state project?
I know that its connection to a Federal Highway is the justification for the move, but I think we know that this is another avenue to buy influence and buy votes.

So this is similar to the project in Boston that sent the highway underground, right?
It’s a good idea for making the city walkable and friendlier to communities. However, Atlanta needs to address its overall highway infrastructure first IMO. Traffic there is horrendous, and I don’t see how this project will alleviate that at all.

How is it a mistake?

It won’t, because that’s not the point.

So the point is to just waste hard-earned tax dollars on a stupid idea that won’t improve traffic?
Do you have any conception of how much some of us on here actually pay in FIT? It’s demoralizing to see it wasted on garbage like this.

The idea of closing an 150-yard wide gap isn’t stupid, though I would’ve opted for a simpler cap with no buildings directly over the Connector.

I do, and it’s more demoralizing to see politicians blow federal tax dollars on garbage like (and not limited to) the war in Ukraine, DEI subsidies, and the Department of Education.

Atlanta has the most Green Space out of any major city in the United States... so they want to waste billions of dollars to create more Green Space that the city doesn't really need?
If you’re referring to parks, the city of Atlanta is in the middle of the pack. I’d rather have a new linear park than a massive open-cut freeway in the center of a city.
